Since her debut in 2004, our favourite Canadian supermodel has fronted a variety of advertising campaigns and covered many high fashion magazines. But it seems that’s not enough for this ambitious 21-year-old. Rocha is now gearing up for another “Coco Moment” in the fashion industry. This Wednesday, she declared on her blog Oh So Coco that she will be launching a clothing range. In her posted video, capturing snippets of Coco sketching in her apartment, she said: “Hey everybody, welcome to my blogspot, Oh So Coco. As many of you know, I’ve been in this industry for quite some time as a model. I have decided to start my own line! So this is where you come in, I need your suggestions on what my line’s name should be. So please leave your comments and I’ll be happy to look at your suggestions."
So far, she’s received over 160 comments, suggesting some very strange names indeed. “Volubilis”, “Oleander” and “Tuque” to name a few. Someone even suggested “Stepdancer”, supposedly linked in with Coco’s love of Irish step dancing (during Jean Paul Gaultier’s A/W 2007 show Rocha opened by Irish-dancing down the catwalk). But mainly it seems her fans think she should keep it simple and easily recognisable with ideas along the lines of “Oh So Coco”, “Coco Rocha” or “Coco Couture”. Check out her blog if you think you can do better.
It goes without saying that there isn't an investment buy like a classic coat, especially one that will last you not only AW09, SS10, but years to come too. Without a doubt, the camel coat fits the description. If camel isn't your colour, stick to neutrals for a classic investment piece, and pick a shape to suit. This season there's been a fair share of the new cocoon shape, but we'll be going with the timeless trench - and how could we not after seeing so many global trench styles on the new Burberry Art of the Trench website?
To say that Lara Stone is the girl of the moment, is an understatement. Having walked for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Miu Miu, Givenchy,Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld and Jaeger, to name but a few, and starred in ad campaigns ranging from H&M (Sonia Rykiel collaboration) and Revlon, to Jean Paul Gautier and DKNY, it is clear that the industry is head over heels in love with Ms Stone (and rightly so too!) She has most recently been ranked 3rd in a Top 50 Female Models poll put together by models.com, and deemed by W magazine (in it's August 2009 issue) as the 'most wanted face of the moment'.
With so many accolades, and a bank balance that is clearly bulging inspite of the recession, it was a surprise for us to learn that the 27 year old was admitted to rehab earlier this year, to treat alcoholism.
Fashion and beauty go hand in hand, so it comes as no surprise that we're eager to know what we'll be wearing on our face next season, let alone our bodies. Besides the usual summer beauty trend- beach hair and tanned limbs- we've got the run down of all the newest looks to emerge from the SS10 runways. The only question is, which one will you be wearing come spring time?
It's official. Jean Paul Gaultier is following in the footsteps of leading designers like Anna Sui and Alexander McQueen by designing a capsule collection for Target.
The collaboration comes as a part of the retailer's Designer Collaboration series, in which the designers are made to choose a muse for their collection; Sui most recently chose 'Gossip Girl' while McQueen opted for Leila Moss. Now what for Gaultier? The Cut reports that 'Jean Paul Gaultier for Target pays tribute to the American woman, celebrating the forces of style both past and present in American pop culture'.
The collection is set to hit 250 Target stores across America and will also be available on Target.com from March 7th until April 11th.
Over the last few weeks we've seen Katy Perry all over the front rows of anyone from Jean Paul Gaultier to Chanel. But don't be deceived. She hasn't been there purely for pleasure. This season, the singer has been working backstage at the shows for American ELLE.
In this clip she caught up with Karl Lagerfeld backstage athis Spring/Summer 2010 show.
Spring Summer 2010 has definitely been the season of optimism. We've seen more playful, creative catwalks, with none of the worries that anything of this sort would be classed as insensitive to the current situation. So for Hermès' latest collection, Jean Paul Gaultier took inspiration from the world of tennis - with a collection that featured pleated minis, polo necks, and sweatbands - complete with a grass-lined catwalk, marked out with white lines, and even the occasional tongue-in-cheek rackets.
It seems that the evergrowing trend of designers leaving their eponymous line is continuing, this time with the ever so mysterious Martin Margiela. Always known for being evidently reclusive, Margiela rarely gave interviews, and never took a catwalk bow for the label that ran under his own name. His face had been relatively unseen by the public until a photograph of the camera shy Belgian designer was published in an article for the New York Times last year.
