Shortly after announcing her pregnancy Jessica Simpson confirmed that she's working on a maternity line, which has since been unveiled, and with her impending nuptials coming soon, it should come as no surprise that she's decided to add a bridal line to her empire.
Talking to In Touch Weekly, a source close to the 'Fashion Star' judge said that Simpson's decision to expand into bridal is something that has always been on the cards. 'A wedding line is something she's always wanted to do,' the source told the title. 'She is talented and knows that women want to wear.' The line is said to cater for women from all shapes and sizes and will really start coming into fruition after his ties the knot in November.
Last year Jessica Simpson confirmed that she has a maternity line in the works and yesterday the first images from the collection hit the net. The collection is part of the 'Fashion Star' judge's partnership with Destiny Maternity and will see the line stocked in 700 different stores including Destination Maternity's concessions in Macy's.
'I’m [pleased] to partner with Destination Maternity to design a collection of fashionable styles that make you look and feel great,' she told WWD. 'You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your baby bump; you want to show your bump off.' Flattering for the former singer means a collection featuring empire line tops, knits, loose fitted dresses and leggings.
Ever since a pregnant Demi Moore posed naked for Vanity Fair back in 1999, it's become a trend. Nowadays it's difficult to come a celebrity not willing to show off their baby bump for a magazine. Only last month Jessica Simpson striped down on the cover of US ELLE to show of her baby bump and now Alessandra Ambrosio is the latest person to follow suit.
Unlike the others, though, Ambrosio's Mert and Marcus-shot image wasn't for magazine, but for a jewelry campaign. Aside from the prevalence of the trend, Ambrosio's decision to bare all for the campaign doesn't come as surprise. As you'll remember, she recently showed off her bump on the runway and posed in a Spanish magazine with her bump on display.
Jessica Simpson fell off my radar once 'Newlyweds' wrapped up but she clearly hasn't fallen off yours. Simpson has bucked the trend in a long line of failed celebrity clothing lines and has a fashion empire racking in nearly $1billion.
“She is the girl next door and has great product that surrounds her,” said Vince Camuto, founder and chief executive officer of Camuto Group, the ibrand’s master licensee. “People like her. People look at her as a style icon.” This year alone the singer's empire - which includes watches, outerwear shoes, accessories, fragrances and swimwear - generated $650K.
Jessica Simpson carefully chose the models for the sneak peak of her Spring '11 collection and the launch of her new denim line. Her picks? A group of her closest friends, including sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and television personality Cacee Cobb. As Jessica fitted her models into her spring styles, Pete Wentz took to the DJ booth, and even mum Tina Simpson joined the group on the runway.
The Jessica Simpson Jeanswear Collection will offer five styles of jeans (including skinnies, flares and - don't worry - jeggings), available in multiple washes and all retailing for $49 to $69. Complementary tops and jackets will cost $29 to $79. From the samples we took home at the event, we can say it's worth your while.
The best part about the new project? Jessica, inspired by her experiences on the reality show 'The Price of Beauty', launched a corresponding online initiative called 'Show Me Your Blues' - which encourages shoppers to take a photo of themselves in their favorite style, then post it on the Jessica Simpson Collection Facebook application. For every snap that goes up on the site, Jessica will donate a dollar to A Beautiful Me, a program that aims to boost the self-esteem of young people everywhere. Now that's something we imagine Jessica's friends and family can be proud of.
We're not sure if her new performance persona Sasha Fierce has anything to do with the change in Beyoncé, but we've noticed of late we've lost the natural bootilicious beauty to a seemingly Gaga inspired diva. Veering away from her usual au natural make-up, Beyoncé has been sporting 'drag queen make-up' (as dubbed by The Cut) for her past two videos, Telephone and Video Phone, and her latest delivery - Why Don't You Love Me - sees the starlet sporting a thick brow, eyeliner reminiscent of Winehouse and red lips.
Moving away from Gaga and channelling Daisy Duke, she goes on to accessorise some rather short denim hotpants with a tied checked shirt, headscarf and hold-ups. Add in a few graphics to the video alongside the styling and we're not entirely sure we recognise the irreplaceable Destiny's Child star that we loved so. Why does Jessica Simpson spring to mind..?
Jessica Simpson topped off her all-black (and partially see-through) look with a blazer at CBS Films' premiere of 'Extraordinary Measures' in LA this week.
