Take a sneak peek at the August 2010 issue of W - the magazine's first cover under the direction of new editor-in-chief, Stefano Tonchi - featuring Mad Men's Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall, as we reported back in May. The cover shows signs of things to come for W, starring the up and coming actors, and shot by lesser known photographer Nathaniel Goldberg. The choice of photographer is a stark contrast to the history of the magazine, which at one point in time continuously featured the likes of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Steven Klein et al.
The focus on rising, underground talent continues as the September issue cover - which was originally said to be starring Lindsay Lohan - will feature a group of young talent, the ones to watch, including Emma Roberts, Zoe Kravitz and Jennifer Lawrence. Now we just have to wait a month to see W's content with Tonchi at the helm, and by the looks of things W is taking a change for the better.
Stefano Tonchi is leading W into big changes, and the August issue will show off the magazine's first cover shoot supervised by the new editor-in-chief. The cover stars? Reportedly, Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall, who costar in Ben Affleck's upcoming crime film 'The Town'. That's certainly a more commercial choice for the magazine, but we'll never complain about anything Hamm-related. For other Tonchi news, his first official issue with W will be July, with a full redesign on the books for September.
At Tonchi's old stomping grounds, T magazine, the higher-ups seem to be close to picking a replacement. The likely choice? Anne Christensen, who currently serves as women's fashion director for the New York Times' mag. Vogue fashion news director Sally Singer is said to have turned down the job - after being considered the frontrunner.
The '60s style on AMC's 'Mad Men', which won Janie Bryant a Costume Designers Guild award, is still creating buzz for season three. Grab your martini and watch the premiere Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. EST.
