Last month we were all left wondering what French Vogue would do after they announced that they are relaunching their website. Their website has arguably not been as strong as their international counterparts but that's all a thing of the past as Emmanuelle Alt proved that they are force to be reckoned with as she unveiled the new design today.
To celebrate the relaunch Anja Rubik, Karmen Pedaru, Kendra Spears, Jasmine Tookes and French TV personality Mademoiselle Agnès, joined Alt to perform Wham's 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go'. All the models serve as back up singers for Alt, with Agnes playing the guitarist.
Since taking the role as editor last many have criticised Alt as coming across as unapproachable and frosty so this video will undoubtedly serve to dispel such allegations and besides, can you honestly imagine any other editor (besides Anna Dello Russo, of course) letting go and releasing something like this?
Yesterday we told you that less editors and buyers were invited to the Chanel couture show this morning and these images quickly prove why. Unimpressed with what air hostesses wore in the 60s, Karl Lagerfeld produced a collection of what the perfect uniform should be. In light of that, the Grand Palais was turned into an aeroplane staffed by top models like Kendra Spears, Joan Smalls and Lindsey Wixson.
While it is true that many designers are scaling back in light of the precarious nature of the economy, it is this that made the extravagant set so special. The backdrop, which took five days to construct, was opulent and unapologetically OTT and that's exactly what we expect from a couture show. The collection, though, was a lot more wearable than we've seen from the house in the past. The first few looks were typically sixties in their silhouettes and came in the varying shades of blue that featured throughout. The strength of the collection lay in classic two piece suit that was updated with a fitting galaxy-style print, the dramatic cocoon shaped sleeves on outerwear and the sequined covered evening dresses.
Kendra Spears has been everywhere over the past few years so you'll be forgiven for forgetting that she has a Ford Models competition to thank for helping to catapult her to fame.
After leaving Ford for Next Model Management, her relationship with her former agency has sadly gone sour. On top of the lawsuit Ford filed against the model recently for breach of contract for leaving the agency too soon, the agency now claim that she owes them $150,564 in fees and back royalties. Whether or not Spears will be made to pay up is still unclear as a judge is yet to enforce the order.
