The latest style to invade our wardrobes this season is the menswear trend. From boyfriend blazers and tailored suits, to classic shirts and brogues, it is all about the boy. The easy glamour takes it cue from the laid back style of mens fashion. Chloe's creative director, Hannah MacGibbon says ''the focus is on an effortless and uninhibited attitude with luxurious fabrics borrowed from men's wardrobes.'' Stella McCartney is also known for her love of masculine tailoring, with classic cut blazers and elegant suits being her signature styles. She says ''I like to play on the masculine and feminine and try to find ways to modernise it.''
This week the LBDs were out in full force, or BBD (big black dress) in the case of Dita von Teese.
Demi Moore was spotted in hers on wednesday night at the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style event in Beverley Hills, while Dita von Teese and Gwen Stefani wore theirs to the Fashion Group International's 26th annual Night of Stars at Cipriani in New York.
Design duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka are clear examples of the well known idea, 'if it's not broke, don't fix it'. For their Spring/Summer 2010 collection, they went back to the signatures that Badgley Mischka are known and loved for.
This season the designers cited their influence as 50's tropical glamour triggered by looking at pictures of friends parents on trips in places like Palm Beach. Translation: bright whites, peaches, oranges and reds for daytime looks with flashes of embellishments. Daytime looks like a loose fitted taolired short and wrap around peach top and knee length white dresses were simple but classic. Evening dresses had the same sentiment. Strapless LBDs were not fussy and had nothing more than simple gold embellishments on the pockets.
Prints were the order of the day at Nicole Miller. Although they won't be everyone's cup of tea, the graphic prints were interestingly incorporated in the designs without being too overbearing. Dresses were sexy. Classic LBDs had sheer panels revealing small patches of skin subtly hinting at sex. The fail safe bandage dress appeared but Miller steered away from making them too tight (think Wags, enough said) like we've seen on the runway countless times before. The colour palette was kept fresh on the most part. White dresses, jackets and trousers had flashes of blues, browns and greens from the prints.
Even if the prints are not for you, you'll definitely find something you'll like from Miller's Spring/Summer offerings.
British model and actress Kelly Brook opted for this pink and grey figure hugging dress for the 2009 GQ Men of the Year Awards, while Kelly Osbourne opted for this edgy LBD.
Haylie Duff looked stuning in this assymetric draped floor length dress at the L.A. premiere of 'The Final Destination'; whereas Nicky Hilton opted for this short LBD.
