You can never have enough leather jackets, or at least that's what I tell myself when justifying another big spend. If you're the same, let us introduce you to leather brand Muubaa.
While the name might not ring a bell, you definitely would have seen there designs before. Everyone from Jessica Alba to Charlize Theron have sported their designs and many have fallen in love with their classic biker styles and more affordable versions of Rick Owens signature funnel neck oversized lapel jackets. But it's not only leather jackets as their collections also include tops, skirts and trousers.
If there's one new brand that stood out to me this year, it's Sarah Baadarani. Despite launching her brand only a year ago, her collections are executed with the confidence of someone who has been in the business for years.
At the heart of the brand is an on going experimentation with dichotomies like hard and soft, feminine and assertively powerful that translates itself of dresses with sharp clean lines softened with by a graphic print or a the inclusion of a sexy black underskirt on an otherwise feminine dress. Despite being only two seasons in, she's already becoming a favourite amongst editors and if 2011 is anything to go by, 2012 is going to a big year for Baadarani.
If there's one new brand that you should keep your eye out for, it's Swedish brand Dagmar. Since its launch back in the spring of 2005, the fashion house has scooped the Best New Designer award from Elle Sweden and is stocked in just about every online retailer that matters and after looking at the collection, it quickly became clear why.
Like many other Scandinavian brands, sisters Kristina Tjäder, Karin Söderlind and Sofia Wallenstam manage to produce pieces that look effortless but feel and look special. From season to season their collection combine all of the pieces your wardrobe needs from the perfect tee to a coloured tailored pant and a selection of perfect draped dresses that will take you from the office to an after-work 'do of drinks.
If there's anything that customers needs since the economic slump it's clothes that work hard for you, and luckily for you, Dagmar has your back.
November is officially in full swing so there's no escaping the cold weather and if, like me, you're not always a fan of wearing thick pieces during the cold months, I'd like to introduce you to a new brand - Charli.
The collection features a selection of staple luxury basics that are perfect for layering during the winter seasons and will work just as well on their own teamed with statement pieces when the weather warms up. The line is designed to slip right into your wardrobe and while the pieces will not change greatly from season to season, the brand will introduce different colours to add to your collection. As well as tops, you will also find a good selection of comfortable palazzo pants for those nights in and jersey tops for lazy weekends.
Charli is available in boutiques in Muswell Hill and the Kings Road retails from £25 to £155.
It's my pleasure to introduce you to the debut collection by Charlie May. Since leaving Devon just over a year ago for London, May has slowly been working on her debut collection and back in September she finally unveiled her a selection of 10 looks in London's Soho Collective Space.
Fans of her successful personal style blog won't be disappointed by what's on offer for S/S12, as the collection is the perfect reflection of May's signature style. The combination of tailored trousers, crisp white shirts and dresses and sheer tops and cropped leather jackets was the perfect mix of androgyny meets femininity, a sentiment that May's favourite designer, Ann Demuelemeester also does so well. After going through the collections of many new designers this season in London, Milan and Paris, none seemed quite as well made or thought out as this.
Back in February Charlie told me of her plans to show her collection this season and fast forward six months, it's finally here. See the full collection in the gallery.
