Marni And Claude Caillol Collaborate To Produce The Plastic Collection

French based artist Claude Caillol and Italian fashion label Marni have joined forces, creating 'The Plastic Collection' - a series of PVC tote bags and jersey t-shirts and dresses to compliment the Marni Winter Edition 2010 range. Caillol - who is known for his naive drawings on recycled plastic bags - was invited to the Marni headquarters in Milan by founder Consuelo Castiglioni, where he designed a series of figurative and abstract motifs to be printed onto the range.

The PVC tote bags not only feature Caillol's free-spirited illustrations, they have also been embellished with studs and feature leather handles, making them the perfect reusable, fashionable shopper. The jersey t-shirts and dresses, meanwhile, were treated with a transparent coating in the process of the collaboration, making them look like PVC in order to tie in with the plastic theme. The collection will be available in Marni stores from June, and on the Marni Virtual Store.
