Yesterday Calvin Klein Collection took over Cannes yesterday to celebrate women in film with the Independent Filmmaker Project. The event, which took place in a private villa in Cannes, celebrated actresses ranging from Shailene Woodley to Jessica Chastain and guests included loyal fans of the brand like Diane Kruger and Naomi Watts.
The event was also special because came alongside the announcement that Lara Stone will continue to serve as the face of all their global advertising campaigns including their Euphoria ad, which is set to drop worldwide in October.
Yesterday was a busy night in New York. As well as the Time 100 party, the city also played host to the Chanel Artist Dinner during the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival at the Odeon. All of the names you would expect were there like Camilla Belle, Leigh Lezark and models Arizona Muse and Karlie Kloss. Even Julia Restoin-Roitfeld made an appearance showing her ever growing baby bump
Over the past year, Ann Taylor have worked hard on shaking-up frump mum images - and it's worked. The introduction of core fashion-led investment pieces and a string of celebrity spokespeople has really helped revamp the brand.
That said, the big unveiling today of Kate Hudson as the brand's latest face doesn't work. While - like Naomi Watts and Heidi Klum (who have both appeared in the campaigns before) - Hudson is a busy working mum, her reputation as the queen of all things boho doesn't sit well with the brand's aesthetic. Demi Moore, who Hudson has replaced, felt like a better fit.
Whether she is in London or New York, Stella McCartney definitely attracts a crowd so the string of editors turning up to congratulate her at the launch of her new Soho store this week came at no surprise.
Guests ranging from faithful Stella wearers, Naomi Watts and Liv Tyler, to David Lauren, Lauren Bush, Erin Lauder and Anna Wintour were treated to an intimate dinner setting in the store with a Meat Free menu created by Mario Batali.
Naomi Watts does effortless chic so well and this drop waist silver sequin Stella McCartney gown is the perfect example of that. The actress teamed the dress with soft curls at a subtle rep lip to attend the AFI Fest 2011 in Hollywood this week.
Are you as impressed with her red carpet look as we are?
Oprah Winfrey sure knows how to throw a party. On Wednesday she hosted a huge event for an evening with Ralph Lauren at New York's Lincoln Centre and as you would expect, the guest list reads like a whose who of the entertainment and fashion industry.
Guests include Diane von Furstenberg, Jessica Alba, Naomi Watts, Uma Thurman and Prabal Gurung. The best looks of the night came from Kerry Washington who looked beautiful in a black gown with gold halter neck detail and 20s hair and Camilla Belle in a figure hugging black gown with sheer detail along the neckline.
Yesterday night saw Calvin Klein help ELLE celebrate their 18th annual ELLE Women in Hollwood Tribute and all eyes were on Elizabeth Olsen, as the young actress picked up the Calvin Klein Collection Emerging Star Spotlight Award for her upcoming role in 'Martha Mrcy May Marlene.
I've been critical of Olsen's fashion's choices in the past but wearing Calvin Klein Collection, naturally, she really impressed me at the event and the look was definitely the best outfit we've seen from her so far making her future red carpet appearances look promising. But she wasn't the only person wearing the brand as ELLE's Joe Zee and Robbie Myers were both wardrobed by the brand as well as celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Naomi Watts and Freida Pinto.
The event was also celebrated in the magazine too as the November issue feature eight different subscribers covers all featuring a selection of this year's honorees.
Last night the Lincoln Centre in New York played home to the 2011 CFDA Awards. As we knew, Marc Jacobs picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award, Phoebe Philo was presented with the International Award and Lady Gaga collected the big 'Fashion Icon' gong at last night's ceremony.
Other big winners of the night include the Proenza Schouler duo who picked up the award for womenswear designer of the year. Accessories designer of the year went to Alexander Wang, Menswear Designer of the Year went to Michael Bastian and Eddie Borgo recieved the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design.
Katie Holmes is the new spokesperson for Ann Taylor and her campaign, shot by Tom Munro, was finally released this week but is set to hit magazines in the March issues.
Holmes enters a long line of celebrities that have graced the brand's campaign including Mila Jovovich, Naomi Watts and Heidi Klum and the deal marks her second big campaign. 2009 saw her appear as the face of Miu Miu's spring/summer campaign and that year she launched her clothing line Holmes & Yang with stylist Jeannie Yang.
Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts have long been loyal followers of Stella McCartney. Hudson wore a black sparkly jumpsuit by the designer with khaki gladiator sandals and Watts teamed hers with a black jacket and yellow heels for a party in Cannes.
