Olivia Palermo has kept a relatively low profile recently but if you're a fan of hers you'll be pleased to hear that she's been all over New York Fashion Week and will no doubt pop up in the other cities too. One of the shows she did attend last week was Peter Som S/S13 where she opted for those Valentino heels that nobody can get enough off with a pair of printed shorts and a simple sleeveless top.
New York Fashion Week is officially in full swing. During fashion month it's easy to forget that there is life outside the shows but just like fashion, Hollywood doesn't stop and this morning we're all waking up to a big story. According to People magazine, fashion favourite Blake Lively tied the knot with Ryan Reynolds in a secret wedding over the weekend.
A source confirmed to the title that the couple got married last night just outside of Charleston. According to the source, Florence Welch, who Lively met on the set of 'Gossip Girl', performed three songs at the event. As yet there's still no word about who designed her wedding dress but it's pretty safe to say that it's either Frida Giannini at Gucci or Karl Lagerfeld.
When Ryan Lochte's people confirmed that he's working on a fashion line, I took his fashion ambitions with a pinch of salt. I mean, aside from those speedos, it's not very often that his fashion choices are a point of discussion but it looks like he's taking the whole fashion thing pretty seriously after all.
The New York Daily News reports that the Olympian is covering New York Fashion Week for E! after his successful appearance on Fashion Police. According to the title, he's already covered the Joseph Abboud show where he sat 'front and centre' and I can't say I'm surprised by the move. Lochte's made no secret of the fact that he has his eyes set on bagging a reality show and considering that E! have huge shows like 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians,' getting him to cover fashion week may be a trial run.
Over the years fashion week has become increasingly democratic. Okay, so maybe the front rows are still a no go zone to us mere mortals but on the whole, they are a lot more accessible than they ever have been. First up was the rise in bloggers attending the shows followed swiftly by live streaming and now things are going one stage further.
Thanks to a partnership between Maybelline and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, you'll be able to watch runway shows live in Times Square this week. Nicholas K, Tadashi Shoji, Richard Chai and BCBG Max Azria will be shown on a giant screen throughout the day on Thursday, The Cut reports. At the moment that is the only day that the initiative will run but if a success, I'm sure it's only the start of more to come.
Louise Goldin has been pretty quiet over the last few years. Despite being a favourite on the London Fashion Week calendar, she decided to take two seasons out after showing her collection in a presentation in New York. But finally, she's decided to go ahead with the comeback that we've all been waiting for.
Earlier on this week Goldin confirmed that she will make her runway return this season but instead of showing in London, she will present her S/S13 collection in New York, and the move isn't a big surprise. The designer moved to New York after tieing the knot with her American husband last October and made no secret of the fact that she plans to spend more time on the other side of the pond. 'I have always felt New York would be a strong city for me to position my label and hope to build some strong foundations for the future there,' she told Vogue.com. 'But London will always be integral to my brand.'
Venus Williams and fashion may not seem like the most obvious combination but that's exactly what the tennis player is focusing on. Earlier on this year she relaunched EleVen by Venus Williams by taking complete control over the line after originally designing it for Steve & Barry's, who went bankrupt in 2008 and now, she taking it to New York Fashion Week.
Over the weekend she threw a party for the line in the Hamptons where she confirmed that it's definitely happening despite the fact that the planning is in its infant stages due to her being in London for the Olympics. Yesterday her publicist confirmed that the line will be showed in a presentation format rather than a runway show on Wednesday September 12 and by the sounds of it, everything we'll see is completely Venus. 'I lead up all the design,' she told The Cut. 'That's really number one, because if I'm not there doing that, then it won't look like me, and it will start to look ordinary.'
