On the whole, Nicole Kidman is a good cover star. Her one for Vogue Australia's May issue is still one of my favourites from her, so much so that I'm willing to put the monstrosity that was her V magazine cover to one side. That aside, she really did need to pull it out of the bag for her latest one and thankfully she did.
The actress appears on the November cover of US Harper's Bazaar glowing in a gold dress alongside cover lines that ironically say, 'Sexy & Age Appropriate' and 'The Daring Issue.' Even more ironic is the fact that the cover was shot by Terry Richardson. Considering how revealing her Mario Testino-shot V cover was, you would have thought that was more Richardson's bag but credit where credit's due, he's actually done a good job with it.
V seem to be celebrating the mature woman in their annual travel issue. As you've probably seen already, Nicole Kidman stripped down (yes, literally) on the cover and she's not alone. In the issue Céline Dion poses in nothing more than a pair of skin tight leather trousers and matching gloves shot in her Florida home.
'I'm like this in my real life,' the 44 year-old told People. 'I was scared a little bit because this is so different for me, but I'm glad I did it. Usually there's always a reason when I do a photoshoot, there's not the opportunity to go crazy.' Unlike Kidman's cover shoot, Dion's actually works. Yes, it's slightly risqué and equally sexed-up but unlike Nicole's, it doesn't feel OTT and attention-seeking purely to make the headlines. And besides, 44 years-old or not, Dion still has it.
Will you pick the issue up when it hits newsstands on August 30?
Say hello to Nicole Kidman's latest cover for V. Before you get any ideas, this isn't a fake circulating the Internet. The Oscar-winning actress did actually agree to go along with Carylne Cerf de Dudzeele's sexed up styling for the Mario Testino-lensed cover shoot.
The belt that she wears on the cover, which makes Britney Spears' 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' skirt look like a kilt, is by Chanel but quite frankly, that doesn't make it any better. There's no doubting that Kidman looks incredible for her age but like Madonna who, can (at times) looks equally as good, something about the whole shoot feels a bit off, much in the same way that Tom Cruise's recent cover of W magazine did.
In the accompanying editorial Kidman touched on the fact that she regrets not letting go when she was younger, which might a long way in explaining her sudden frivolity. 'I would be more outlandish if I could,' she explained. 'A lot of times you just don't get the chance,' and by the look of things, 45 is a good a time as any to start.
It's officially that time of year again. The September issues are just around the corner and the first few are already out. As always, Vogue Australia have released their first and stars Bella Heathcote and Numero Tokyo's CandiceSwanepoel cover has also hit the net. While both magazines have opted for models, their covers are by no means representative of what you can expect from other titles. All of the rest have gone for celebrities and while that does bug me, the fact that Kim Kardashian doesn't appear on any is a bonus.
As we all know, Lady Gaga has been shot by Met & Marcus for American Vogue, as she continues to drum up attention around her debut fragrance. Glamour have confirmed that they've booked Victoria Beckham to cover theirs and I'm excited. Beckham's covers have been really strong lately and she just might be what the magazine needs after those disappointing covers with Mila Kunis and Amanda Seyfried. InStyle has opted for Jennifer Lopez, Marie Claire have gone for Miley Cyrus, W for Penelope Cruz, Interview for Emma Stone and V for Nicole Kidman.
Vanity Fair's decision to book Jessica Chastain makes sense. The actress looks incredible in statement designer pieces and does old school Hollywood glamour like nobody else. Also good is the news that GwenStefani will cover US Harper's Bazaar. Anyone that's followed the magazine since their revamp earlier on this year will know that their covers have been bang on, and their main fashion stories even stronger so I'm sure that's going to be a good'un.
Brad Pitt has everything to smile about this morning. Today it was confirmed that the actor will follow in the footsteps of Audrey Tautou and Nicole Kidman by becoming the new face of Chanel No. 5.
According to E! Online, the actor is shooting the campaign this week in London after Chanel dropped a whopping seven-figue sum to sign him up. Since his appointment marks the first time a man has appeared in the campaign, it wouldn't be wrong to expect this campaign to be particularly special.
All eyes have been on Australian fashion this week as Sydney Fashion Week took place but that's not the only thing from down under that everyone has been talking about. On Friday the Australian version of Harper's Bazaar released this image of Nicole Kidman holding her daughter Faith Margaret for their June cover, which hits shelves on May 14.
In the introduction of the cover story Harper's editor Edwina McCann couldn't have been any more complimentary about the actress. 'Kidman arrived on time, without entourage, and even spotted the crew not a coffee but a coffee van — “my treat” — when she was told the cost was beyond the shoot budget,' she wrote. 'She was a willing photographic subject, talked to me in an unguarded and genuinely warm manner before the pictures, and later waited obligingly until dark for a specific Gucci dress to arrive. (In the end the light was so low that the shot didn’t make the cut.)'
As we count down to tonight's Oscars, we have compiled some images of some of the best red carpet moments we've had over the last few years.
Naturally Hilary Swank's Guy Laroche dress that she wore to accept the Best Female gong for 'Million Dollar Baby' is in the list, alongside Nicole Kidman in that red Balenciaga halter neck dress that she wore in 2007 and that breathtaking Atelier Versace gown that Penelope Cruz wore back in 2007.
Nicole Kidman has been criticised for her outfit choices recently by the actress was on good form yesterday to attend the screening of 'Snow Flower And The Secret Fan' hosted by The Cinema Society with Ivanka Trunp and Diane Von Furstenberg. Kidman looked chic in this red cocktail Elie Saab dress with peplum detail teamed with red lips and nude open toe sandals.
