The Big Mariah Carey Comeback Begins And First Up Is A Beauty Range

When Mariah Carey was confirmed as the new judge on American Idol, it was only a matter of time before we heard about her big comeback and the big deals that would naturally ensue and true to form, they're already trickling in.

The singer is following in the footsteps of stars like Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj by collaborating with OPI on a range but unlike the others, Carey is working on not one but two lines. According to reports, the first range will feature eight Mariah-inspired shades (so that means pink) that will drop in January, followed the second collection, which will be unveiled later in 2013.

As far as nail lacquers go, it doesn't get much better than OPI. Nicki Minaj Has A Fragrance Deal In The Works

Nicki Minaj has everything to smile about. Her new album 'Roman Reloaded' is currently number one in the Billboard Charts and over the years she partnered with everyone from MAC to OPI on her own lines and things are only getting better. Today the rapper's reps confirmed that she has been working on her own debut fragrance.

The scent, which is set for release this Autumn, is part of a lucrative deal that she's signed with Give Back Brands, the company behind Justin Beiber's extremely successful women's fragrance 'Someday'. 'I have always been a huge fan of great fragrances,' Minaj said. 'This is yet another extension of my creative expression. I designed the scent and bottle with my Barnz in mind.'

Nicki Minaj is doing really well. Admittedly, I was part of the camp that thought that here allure would fade after the initial attention she garnered but so far, she's proved me (and everyone else) wrong. We all know that she has a nail polish line for OPI, is the current face of MAC's Viva Glam line along with Ricki Martin and had a Barbie doll created in her honour, but her big profile in this weekend's New York Times Sunday Style section revealed a lot of things that we didn't know about the rapper.

Interestingly, it was Minaj who approached MAC about working collaborating, which resulted in her lipstick collection with them despite Minaj pitching to be their Viva Glam spokesperson. Also new was the revelation that her November cover of W came as a result of her being unable to appear in their July music issue due to touring commitments and her people pitching for a cover. What was most interesting, however, was her flourishing relationship with Vogue. According to the profile, the magazine's director of special events, Sylvana Ward Durrett, has had her eye on Nicki for a long time predicting her to 'hit it big' and her agent revealed that he is "in talks" with them about a possible cover. “That’s on my wish list. I hope. I hope.”

Nicki Minaj Has A Nail Varnish Line With OPI

Life isn't too bad for Nicki Minaj. Over the past two years she managed to front a W cover, bagged a campaign and cosmetics partnership with MAC and now she has her sights on developing her presence in the beauty market. Today the rapper announced that she's collaborated with OPI on a line of nail varnishes. As you would expect, the range is far from muted and subdued. One comes in neon green, two come in glitter, one in metallic, another in pink and one in a deep purple.

Her business-savy definitely needs to be commended. Unlike many other celebrities, she's said yes to projects that work because they are an extension of her aesthetic. Now with MAC and OPI under her belt, who knows what her next move will be....

Last Saturday, The Fash Pack was lucky enough to be amongst a select group - including Jefferson Hack, Derek Blasberg and Catherine Ostler, editor of Tatler - to be invited to the first-ever screening of the innovative Tim Burton's Disney film, 'Alice in Wonderland'. After having a preview of the designer collaborations involved in the project, the film was introduced by Alice Temperley who has collaborated with Disney on the film.

The movie, which is set to have its UK premiere tonight and will be in cinemas on March 5th, took us on a fantasy 3D adventure. The eccentric characters, played by Johnny Depp (The Mad Hatter), Mia Wasikoska (Alice), Helena Bonham Carter (Red Queen) and Anne Hathaway (White Queen), added a source of inspiration for a string of designer collaborations.
