The AMA Takes A Strong Stance Against Retouching Campaigns

Over the last few years debates concerning the rise in retouching has never been too far from the headlines. Ralph Lauren most notably made headlines back in 2009 for the dramatic photoshopping of model Filippa Hamilton in their ad campaign leading to the designer quickly apologising for the blunder. Despite the mass public criticism of the brand over-retouching of campaigns is increasingly becoming the norm, which has led to the American Medical Association to take a strong stance on the issue.

Introducing Rococo By Coco Rocha

Image via Twitter

Coco Rocha is reporting live from the Grammys tonight (in a special gig for E! Canada), and as promised, she showed up to the red carpet in her own design. We'd been curious to see what her Victorian-inspired collection would look like, and just as importantly, what it would be called. Now, the 21-year-old supermodel has revealed via Twitter that her new range will have a simple but catchy name: Rococo.

Rocha previously asked readers of her blog, Oh So Coco, to help name the line - and it looks like Rococo beat out other suggestions like "Volubilis” and “Oleander." Now, all we have to wonder is what Ms Coco will do in September. She's hinted that a fashion-week presentation might be in the future, and we'd love to see the Canadian fashion darling presenting clothes to Anna Wintour in a new way.

Coco Rocha Set To Wear Herself To The Grammys

Back when we revealed that Coco Rocha was to be reporting live from the Red Carpet at The Grammy Awards for E! Canada, the Canadian model left us in the lurch after writing on her blog that she had another suprise entailing that same night. Well, last night Coco revealed on her blog that she will be - for the very first time - wearing her own collection!

"No doubt I'll be asking many of them who they are wearing, but, should they ask me who I'm wearing, for the first time ever I'll get to say... 'I'm wearing myself!!!'" she blogged excitedly. "My team and I have been hard at work getting the dress together these last few weeks. Just this morning we had another fitting and I have to tell you, it has been so wonderful to see the picture in my head find its way into reality." Still no sign of Coco revealing the name for the label yet though, as the legal and branding issues are still to be sorted. In the meantime, always a teaser, Coco leaves us with this blurry shot (above right)... roll on the Grammys!

Coco Rocha Ventures Into Fashion Design

Since her debut in 2004, our favourite Canadian supermodel has fronted a variety of advertising campaigns and covered many high fashion magazines. But it seems that’s not enough for this ambitious 21-year-old. Rocha is now gearing up for another “Coco Moment” in the fashion industry. This Wednesday, she declared on her blog Oh So Coco that she will be launching a clothing range. In her posted video, capturing snippets of Coco sketching in her apartment, she said:  “Hey everybody, welcome to my blogspot, Oh So Coco. As many of you know, I’ve been in this industry for quite some time as a model. I have decided to start my own line! So this is where you come in, I need your suggestions on what my line’s name should be. So please leave your comments and I’ll be happy to look at your suggestions."

So far, she’s received over 160 comments, suggesting some very strange names indeed. “Volubilis”, “Oleander” and “Tuque” to name a few. Someone even suggested “Stepdancer”, supposedly linked in with Coco’s love of Irish step dancing (during Jean Paul Gaultier’s A/W 2007 show Rocha opened by Irish-dancing down the catwalk). But mainly it seems her fans think she should keep it simple and easily recognisable with ideas along the lines of “Oh So Coco”, “Coco Rocha” or “Coco Couture”. Check out her blog if you think you can do better.
