Ports 1961 designer, Tia Cibani, took inspiration from traditional Japanese dress for the brand's Spring/Summer 2010 collection. If you didn't get the reference from the Zen rock garden at the back of the runway, the inspiration became clear when Cibani sent models down the runway in kimono like jackets with the traditional print and bow tie and bit of bamboo in the clutches.
For some, the reference may have been presented too literally but Cibani successfully managed to combine the traditional prints and style with a modern silhouette.
Towards the end of the show she presented whimsical jackets and dresses in light and airy fabrics in white, which created a balance from some of the opening looks.
Not everything was so whimsical. For the structured girl, Cibani presented strong shift dresses in a soft bronze.
