Jil Sander has continued to soar under the direction of Raf Simons over the pst seven years but sadly today, reports confirm that the designer is leaving the brand.
This isn't the first time we've heard that Simons is leaving the brand. If you cast your mind back to September last year you will remember the hoopla that was made after Suzy Menkes alluded to the common belief that he would take over the helm at Yves Saint Laurent, replacing Stefano Pilati. While the source, who revealed the news of his departure on the condition of anonymity, did not discuss Simons' possible move to YSL, I wouldn't discard it altogether. Back in June WWD confirmed that Stefano Pilati's contract at the French house ends next month which coincides with Simons' departure from Jil Sander. This seems like more than a mere coincidence.
What do you think?
UPDATE: Jill Sander have just released a full statement confirming the reports.
