Bill Blass has not been without its fair share of drama and changes. Last year, after a declaration of bankruptcy, Peter Som left the house and it was taken over by Peacock Holdings.
In March, rumours surfaced that Richard Chai was set to take the big position of creative director for the house. However, Peacock Holdings have been quiet over the past few months and have been reluctant to reveal who will definitely get the job. "We're talking to people, but there's nothing I can divulge," Peacock executive Scott Patti tells The Cut. Keeping up?
With all that said, it is looking increasingly unlikely that the brand will produce a show this September.

It's designer against model in this Fash Off edition. Sam and Mark's sister went a bit gothic with her frock for the Kitchen 2009 Spring Gala after-party, while Ms Harlow paired retro with ballet flats. Whose look do you prefer?

Sometimes, you have your problems. As in, if you're a fashion brand like Bill Blass, your head designer (Peter Som) might leave, and your new owners (Peacock International Holdings) might file bankruptcy. It's The Recession, people!
But don't count Bill Blass out. The company is reportedly in talks with designer Richard Chai, who could potentially help bring the line back to the runway. A final decision is expected in about a month.

Lauren Santo Domingo, Byrdie Bell
Remember Brian Atwood's steamy 'limited-edition book' (read: press-grabbing lookbook), Role Play Rene? Remember Rene Russo, the hottest 55-year-old we've ever seen, pressing her stiletto into some fine young thing's rear? Us too. And well, the party to celebrate was a bit more tame.
She of the heel pressing was nowhere to be seen at the NYC party, organised by Byrdie Bell and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, but it still was a designer's delight. Who else is excited that Richard Chai is doing the party circuit? And slightly nerdier, who's excited that Oprah's dreamy interior designer showed up?

As previously announced, we now know the hopefuls for this year's CFDA ceremony. We also know that CFDA President Diane von Furstenburg is feeling optimistic about the season. "In three days, it's spring, and American fashion is kicking," she said at the nominee-announcement party. "We will surf the tsunami and do very well."
But let's get down to business. How did the designers look at the announcement ceremony?

Richard Chai has been developing this tough-looking rock queen for a while now. Building on ideas from his last two collections,Chai presented the fashion crowd with gorgeous tartans, tough leather and fabulous furs. The muted palette of black, green, red, white and blue was combined to create edgy check prints and strong, colour-blocked separates. This strong-shouldered coat in leather had a slight 80s, Matrix feel, while the plaid dress was beautifully draped and very versatile.
