Just about every major designer and model has descended on New York last night ahead of the Met Gala on Monday but ahead of the event, Balmain's Olivier Rousteing threw a big party last night at Chelsea's Hotel Americano. At the event the designer spoke about the launch of the brand's new Twitter and Facebook accounts that became live this week, revealing that he plans to get in on the Twitter action himself. 'It's a good way to understand what [customers[ feel about the collection, about the clothes and they can see the details, and they can be more a part of my soul,' he told The Cut at the event. 'I hope they will 'like us' and enjoy what we enjoyed to create.'
Aside from that, what was more interesting was his revelation that Joan Smalls is his guest at Monday's event. The partnership definitely works. Smalls looks good in everything but it will be interesting to see how she looks in a piece that showcases the new direction that the young designer is taking the brand.
That wasn't the only Met Gala confirmation from last night. Karlie Kloss will accompany Jason Wu, Anja Rubik is going with Anthony Vaccarello and Constance Jablonski will attend with Haider Ackermann. New in today is that Arizona Muse is teaming up with Erdem, Thakoon with Christina Ricci and Doutzen Kroes with Roland Mouret. The most interesting confirmation is that Karolina Kurkova will attend with Rachel Zoe, cementing her as a designer to be reckoned with.

Since buying his trademark back from investors back in 2010, things have continued to go from strength to strength for Roland Mouret. Last year he opened his first flagship store in London's Mayfair and this week he announced that he will be launching a footwear line set to launch next season.
But don't worry. Although you won't be able to buy the pieces until the end of the year, the six styles in the collection will be unveiled at his Fall 2012 show on March 2 and the selection will continue to grow each season. “These are shoes that women can wear day-in and day-out,' he told WWD. 'They have a masculine feel, a daytime attitude, and they are not too precious. And, although they have a high heel, they are really comfortable. My challenge was to balance sexiness with comfort.'

Last night ELLE hosted their 15th annual ELLE Style Awards. The event, which took place in London's Savoy Hotel, saw Alexa Chung brought back to serve as host and guests were treated to a performance over dinner by Critics Choice Award winner, Emeli Sandé who was joined on the stage Professor Green in the after-party.
Red carpet looks were strong, particularly from Tali Lennox in Julien Macdonald, Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen, Chung in Stella McCartney and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Antonio Berardi.
But outfits aside, the one thing you can always count on at the event is a good speech or two and last night was no different. Last year everyone was talking about Vivienne Westwood's 'interesting' confession that she didn't know who Emma Watson but this year was even more memorable. Johnny Johannsson, Acne's creative director, had us all impressed as he sang a Swedish celebratory song to pick up the award for Best Contemporary Brand but it was Cuba Goodings Jr who stole the show. Before presenting the Style Icon award to Huntington-Whiteley, he had the crowd taking shots of their drinks after saying that, "this is the first party I've been to where I feel I need to loose weight."

The past 12 months have been busy for Roland Mouret and full of new beginnings. Back in November the French designer bought his trademark back from investors after five years and announced the launch of his new flagship store and yesterday he announced that he's working on a new project.
The 33 year-old has been tapped by accessories and footwear brand Robert Clergerie to serve as their creative director in a bid to appeal to a contemporary audience. It definitely makes sense. Mouret's followers range from editors like ELLE UK's Lorraine Candy to the likes of Victoria Beckham and Kate Middleton.

Today Roland Mouret announced that he has bought his trademark back from investors after five years and is preparing to develop his business. The first thing planned? Early next year the designer will open his flagship store in London's Mayfair which will house both his complete womenswear and menswear line."The acquisition of the trademark and the addition of Carlos Place, the new residence for the brand, feels like a home coming," he said.
On the announcement of the news, Mouret expressed his appreciation of the support from 19 boss Simon Fuller. "My partnership with Simon Fuller is unique," he said. "He has allowed me to develop a business whilst ensuring I always had enough space and resources to follow my intuition and establish the company. Acquiring the trademark was always part of our plan. The future is very exciting".

Usually confined only to the lighter days of Summer, neutrals made an unusually popular appearance on the catwalks of AW10. Wear different tones of sand, nude, mink and off white for workable wardrobe, and accessorise with tan belts, bags and shoes for the ultimate neutral outfit. Maybe even add a playful pom pom hair accessory as seen as Sonia Rykiel, or brighten up your outfit with dip dyed hair, as seen at Giles.

Mention the words Spanx, shapewear or body control lingerie and gruesome images of Bridget Jones-esque underwear springs to mind. So it's been a long time coming for a designer to close in on the gap in the market, and although Roland Mouret created the "powermesh" dress (similar to Spanx, only at $475), Cynthia Rowley's new range of "bodywear" has been well received.
The new range - entitled SLIM by Cynthia Rowley - features art deco style panels in tones of nude, black, greyish mauve, light blue and hot pink, and although it won't be in stores until July, judging by the photos released they will be worth the wait. At prices between $118 and $226, the range is a bit of an indulgence but when something looks that adorable, and does wonders for our figures, we think it will be worth the investment. And we've got until July to save...

Following the announcement that founder Simon Fuller had left his company 19 Entertainment two months ago, the company's owner CKX revealed yesterday that they were in talks with One Equity Partners about a possible company buy out. Fuller sold his renowned company - which owns stakes in Storm Models, Roland Mouret and Victoria Beckham - to CKX in 2005, and for the past year rumours have surfaced about his next step.
Joining forces with fashion mogul Sir Phillip Green, it was announced last June that Fuller and the Arcadia owner were to create a global entertainment company, after which more rumours circulated about the possibility of Kate Moss' involvement. It was then hinted that Fuller was to collaborate with pal Victoria Beckham to form a modelling agency based in New York, however the former Spice Girl dismissed the rumour, and it was shortly after that Fuller left his company in order to pursue a career in film and other areas of entertainment. With Fuller gone and talks of a company buy-out, the future for Storm Models, Roland Mouret and Victoria Beckham remains to be seen... watch this space.
