We can see why Dien van Straalen was nominated for a Best Costume Design Oscar and BAFTA. 'Lord of the Rings' eventually won, but for us, a pale-faced Dutch girl really swept the year.

Mango is fast becoming our favourite high street giant. Not only because they have recently launched a new more affordable range, so that fashionistas need not suffer too much during the current economic climate. No, above all, we love MNG mostly because it has brought us some of the best celebrity/high street collaborations. Having offered the Monica and Penelope Cruz collections, and ad campaigns featuring Scarlett Johansson and Dree Hemingway, which have all gone towards adding even more of a 'cool- factor' to the brand, word from the Mango mill suggests that Moises de la Renta, Oscar de la Renta's adopted son, has signed (or will soon sign) a deal to design for the spanish retailer.

Mango has always been a forward thinking high street store with their celebrity collaborations with the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Monica and Penelope Cruz being a case in point. This time however, Mango has decided to launch a new affordable collection known as the 'Think Up' project.
This latest installment from the spanish brand sees over 90 pieces in the collection which includes skirts, blouses and printed dresses, sold at knock down prices starting from as little as £9. Why the sudden price drop? Mango has said that 'because of the recession, Mango wanted to make clothes more available to everyone.'

If there was an award for the most accomplished First Lady in history Carla Bruni-Sarkozy would most certainly be in the running. As a singer/songwriter and ex-supermodel, being the 'triple-threat' that she is, it was only a matter of time before she returned to the world of film.
She debuted in Robert Altman's satirical film, 'Pret-a-Porter' in which she played herself (in her supermodel heyday). Although Bruni's publicist has said that 'nothing is signed yet and it's too early to discuss', Woody Allen has confirmed that he would like to work with her and the fact that the film is rumoured to be shot sometime next year in Paris, is more fuel to the rumour mill. If true however, this could be a real coup as no other First Lady can say they have worked with such an iconic writer/producer/director and actor that is Woody Allen, whose films include 'Annie Hall', 'Deconstructing Harry' and most recently, 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona', starring Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall and Javier Bardem. We can't wait!

Roland Mouret - the man who invented the 'it' dress after Dita von Teese and Scarlett Johansson complained they needed a designer frock that would allow for a bra - is no longer Roland Mouret. He's decided to reinvent himself as RM after a nasty split with Sharai Meyers, his business partner of five years. The designer had signed away most of his licensing rights, so that means, naturally, time for a new name.
"I have never spoken about it," he told the Guardian. "The only thing I said to her was I didn't recognise her any more. I understood then what a divorce was. I have been separated from people I loved, but there – the person I knew was not the person I had met. Not at all. It was shocking. We were both ruthless – I am quite ruthless, anyway – but it was still surprising. I was like: 'Did I love you? Really?' "
Since making his 2005 Galaxy dress for von Teese and Johansson - and having Victoria Beckham wear one of his dresses, and then having the high street copy it like none other - the designer isn't in such a bad place. He's done a dress collaboration with Gap, made a deal with Simon Fuller, won over a list of A-list fans for the RM collection, and now, come up with a new must-have: the tunic-top dress.
Scarlett Johansson chose a demure look but vampy makeup for an appearance at Selfridges today. Makes sense, considering that she showed up to the department store for the launch of Dolce and Gabanna: The Make Up.
How's her look?

What do you think of her look?

Now that it's summer, the last thing you'll want to do is put on a full face of makeup. But if you don't feel like going barefaced, then you can follow the lead of these ladies, who have a pretty good idea of how to keep things fresh in the warmer months.
