Taylor Momsen is certainly not everyone's cup of tea, especially the parent's of young girls, that's for sure.However, in the fashion industry Momsen's fans are forever on the increase, and this time she has the ostentatious yet creative genius, John Galliano on side. Choosing the 16 year old, rock and roll, gossip girl star as the new face for his fragrance this fall, seems quite logical when you compare the characters.

They are more similar than you would first be led to believe. Both wear outrageous makeup and even more outrageous clothes, love people and social interaction therefore, get on like a house on fire. We await to see how Momsen will be styled for the ad, no doubt plenty of dark makeup and barely there clothing will be used on the young star.

Turning a mere 17 in a matter of days, actress turned singer turned model, Taylor Momsen knows what she wants to wear, and isn't afraid to fire anyone in the process. The youngest star of hit series Gossip Girl, says its not easy to describe what she defines as her personal style. Momsen, is generally known for sporting underwear as outerwear, tiny dresses, eyeliner, dark lipstick, messy hair, eyeliner and lots of mascara.

What many would describe as a rock chic or grunge chic, cannot really be defined, states Momsen. The blonde beauty says, "I think firing my stylist has allowed me to be more free. I was getting molded into this thing that wasn’t who I am."  Insisting that she doesn't dress provocatively for anyone but herself, Momsen told a source she looks at dressing her body, like dressing her doll collection. This sounds more like something that her parents would like to hear, rather than what the teenager actually might think.

When WWD hinted that the surprise face of Madonna's new line, 'Material Girl' was to be a young starlet, who starts "on a hit teen drama series and is known for her frayed, rocker-tinged style off-screen," it became fairly obvious who the singer had chosen to represent her brand. So it comes as no shock that Gossip Girl star and front-girl for rock band The Reckless, Taylor Momsen was announced as the face of her latest range.

In keeping with Momsen's rocker look, the junior collection is said to mix the fierce and the feminine, colliding studded leathers and floral prints. Available only at Macy's, we have to say that the teen rock look the advert goes for looks familiar - anyone remember Christina Aguilera in her Xtina, dirtier days?

With her white-blonde hair, piercingly pale eyes and rock and roll attitude you'd be forgiven for thinking Taylor Momsen was older than 16. But the Gossip Girl star, designer and lead singer of band Pretty Reckless now has another talent to add to her curriculum vitae - modelling - as she is the new face of British high street giant New Look.

Following in the footsteps of Kimberley Walsh, Agyness Deyn and Alexa Chung, the campaign uses Momsen's signature grunge-luxe style, with studded nudes, ripped leggings and a short breton striped number making an appearance. Rumour has it Taylor took quite a few clothes home from the shoot, so be sure to nip into New Look soon to emulate Little J's grimey take on the Gossip Girl style.

If gossip passed on by NYLON is true, then Taylor Momsen has a big job coming up. Reportedly, she shot a campaign today for a "very big fashion brand" - potentially New Look - on Friday. With Daisy Lowe and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld signed on as the faces of Esprit and Scarlett Johansson posing for Mango, it's the perfect time for a young style icon to help sell for the high street.

If the rumours aren't true, then we wonder why someone hasn't thought of using the 'Gossip Girl' star yet. Young, rebellious and a fan of garter belts? We can't think of a better campaign girl.
