Before I really became interested in fashion, all I would look at in a fashion magazine was the ads. It only dawned on me recently that just looking at the ads really doesn't teach you everything you need to know about the fashion world. So now I make sure I read the articles along with the ads, and look for a reccurring [sic] trend. In observing this, I've noticed that animal prints are coming back. As a guy, animal print doesn't really take that much of a toll on my daily wardrobe, but for all you girls it's a must.
Lorenzo Martone has joined forces with Elite's former marketing director, Ryan Brown, to create a boutique PR agency for models. The agency, whose clients already include Alessandra Ambrosio, Jessica White and Lydia Hearst, aim to "build equity around the girl's personality".
According to The Cut, the duo aim to help the models broaden their horizons and branch into acting, singing and enterainment roles.
After much anticipation and talk about 'those' Alexander McQueen heels and the fresh off the S/S10 runway looks, its finally here. Yesterday Lady Gaga's latest video, 'Bad Romance' was revealed.
In the latest video, the singer swaps her interest in Muppets outfits and instead pronounces that razors are the way forward. Yes, razors:
"I wanted to design a pair for some of the toughest chicks and some of my girlfriends — don't do this at home! — they used to keep razor blades in the side of their mouths," she told The Cut. "That tough female spirit is something that I want to project. It's meant to be, 'This is my shield, this is my weapon, this is my inner sense of fame, this is my monster.'"
What words come to mind when you think about Carolina Herrera. Luxury, elegance and glamour, right? So I'm sure, like us, the idea of her working on a diffusion line with Target sounds slightly far fetched.
However, The Cut managed to speak to the designer this week at New York City Opera's theatre debut this week where she revealed that a collaboration is something she would consider. “Of course!” she said when asked whether she would accept an offer. “If they asked me, of course.”
Does this mean we can expect a collaboration any time soon? Only time will tell.
In the first two years of my career, there were a lot of restraints on what I could do. I couldn’t wear certain colors of lipstick, like bright pink, dark pink or red; [my lips] had to be natural. Eventually, I stopped communicating with certain people at the label, and did exactly what I wanted to do. And that was to cut my hair, dye it black, change my clothes, change my sound. Really to just express myself ... My hairdresser just said, “I don’t feel like doing your hair anymore — I want to cut it.” I was like, Finally!
The Cut confirms that Victoria's Secret model Karolina Kurkova delivered a healthy baby boy last Thursday. The baby, the first for Kurkova and her film-producer fiancé, Archie Drury, and weighed in at six pounds and three ounces and was named Tobin Jack.
If fellow Angels Alessandra Ambrosio and Heidi Klum are anything to go by, it's safe to say that Zurkova will back in shape and on the runway before you know it.
I would hate for someone to look at my shoe and say, 'Oh my God! That looks so comfortable!' That's not what I want to project. But I'm not a sadist. I don't believe suffering makes you beautiful. But comfort is not part of my creative process.
Back in 1986 when I was photographing a very young Naomi and she was dancing to Prince in a bright red Yohji Yamamoto coat inspired by the collections of Christian Dior, I thought it was just so thrilling. It was a piece of contemporary theatre and it was seen by no more than around seven people. Fashion is such a fascinating world and if one could show the research that goes into a John Galliano collection, for example ... It's missed. Fashion is presented as something for the ladies or as trade. It's both scandalised and trivialised and it's a lot more interesting than that
In some unfortunate news, it's been confirmed that Yohji Yamamoto has officially filed for bankruptcy In Japan as a result of being approximately $76 million in debt.
According to The Cut, his situation isn't too bad though. An investor has offered a substantial amount to help with management and allow the brand to operate business as usual.
