It's a sad time in the model world. Last week we sadly announced the suspected suicide of Tom Nicon and as discussed, the last year has seen the death of Daul Kim and the attempted suicide of Noémie Lenoir. Unfortunately, news broke on Friday of another death in the model world. Bollywood actress and Indian model Viveka Babajee allegedly hanged herself from a fan on the ceiling in her apartment. According to local newspapers, the 37 year-old suffered from severe depression.

As Jezebel's contributor Jenna Sauers said in an article last month, "Suicidal models are fashion's worst trend". All we can do now is hope that the trend does not continue.

Earlier this morning we reported the sad passing of Burberry model, Tom Nicon who tragically died the day before he was set to walk in menswear fashion week. As expected, designers are already flocking to express their sadness about the news and make tributes to the young model.

Donatella Versace who was with Nicon in a casting earlier on in the day he died said, "He was with us on Friday morning for a final fitting. He seemed fine and calm. He had already done three or four shows with us and he was a sweet boy. We just can't understand why he did what he did. We would never have thought he would do something like this. When we heard the news we were all so upset and we still are all so very sad."

Giorgio Armani also made a statement to The Guadian upon hearing the news. "This world is too closely linked to youth and makes it seem like life ends at 22," he said. "We need to make the young understand life is beautiful from 23 onwards as well. There will always be disappointments, including in love, but they must be faced up to without tragedy."

Nixon's agency D'Management who were earlier refusing to comment, made a tribute via their website saying, "A Tribute to Tom Nicon: A friend to all of us. Always so special, always so brilliant and such a great model and human being."

The last year has tragically seen a slew of models found dead including Daul Kim and Ambrose Olsen and 22 year-old model, Tom Nicon is the latest added to the list. The French model was found dead in his apartment in Milan a day before fashion week began. According to his friend, Nicon had allegedly fallen from his apartment window. However, whether this was an accident or a suicide attempt is not clear. "He did the Versace fitting this morning," the unnamed friend said. "After that he was supposed to go to his agency but he never arrived. I don't know if it was suicide or if he fell."

Nicon has walked for brands ranging from Burberry and Louis Vuitton to Hugo Boss and Versace and will be greatly missed. An anonymous model told Isaac Likes - a blog based in Milan, "People think we are young and beautiful and rich and happy. But we're not. We go to castings and the directors take one look at us and then we're dismissed. You spend your whole life wondering what's wrong with you. Why didn't I get that job? You're competing with your friends, you're away from your family. The pressure is huge. It's not the fairytale life people would expect."
