The Ungaro creative director explains herself to People

After suffering a rather brutal set of critique following the SS10 Emanuel Ungaro show that she co-designed with Lindsay Lohan, it must have taken courage for Estrella Archs to hold her head high once more, and show her eponymous collection in Paris on Friday. Held in a parking garage in the chic Marais district, the collection was all together more grown up, with a minimalistic edge, sheer fabrics and soft drapery. Meanwhile, rumours from behind the scenes at Ungaro with Lindsay didn't sound too promising, as The Times newspaper reported - ‘[Lohan] picked up a black and white scarf and tied it around her head, then replaced it with a black one, and then clumsily stuck a red sequin-covered heart to the side of her head while a team of designers watched her...’ After proving herself under her namesake collection to be more than adequate as a designer alone, we're not sure how long Ungaro will be running under a design partnership.

The Times recounts Lohan's interview for the fashion line
It's just three days until the Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2010 collection is revealed in Paris, and Lindsay Lohan, the new artistic adviser for the brand, is up to her elbows in work! And now, she's become something of a Twitter publicist for Ungaro, inviting Lily Allen, Miley Cyrus, Charlotte Ronson and Sarah Silverman to the show with a few tweets. As she typed to Miley: "will you be in Paris this week? would you like to come to the Emanuel Ungaro show for the new collection i've designed love? xo*"
According to Ungaro CEO Mounir Mouffarige, Lohan was hired for "kind of [overseeing] everything [designer Estrella Archs] does", and was chosen because she's a walking ambassador for the brand.
Lohan revealed, via Twitter, that she's pretty pleased with her new office for the brand in Paris. She wrote: "It's so pretty! I was shocked&so happy I cried!!! A dream come true!"

After months of speculation, today WWD confirmed that Esteban Cortazar and Ungaro have come to a 'mutual agreement' to part ways.
Conflict at the house reportedly began because Cortazar disagreed with bosses moving towards celebrity endorsement and was particularly unhappy about the prospect of Lindsay Lohan becoming the face of the brand and taking a creative role.
However, amid speculation of a pending legal suit from the creative director against the brand, both parties were quick to squash rumours, claiming that they were working out their differences.
At present, no successor has been named.

Watching the Gimabattista Valli show today in Paris had me day dreaming. I was ready to get into my chauffeur-driven Maybach to my private jet, wearing a Giambattista Valli peacock feather jacket of course, before reality struck. For the Giambattista Valli woman, this lifestyle is far from a daydream. The collection shunned the theme of pessimism that has dominated the shows this season, favouring quality, luxury fabrics and flashes of colour.
