Valentino Will Design Anne Hathaway's Wedding Dress

Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst always wear Rodarte, Renee Zellweger never steers too far from Carolina Herrera and the same is true of Anne Hathaway and Valentino. The actress often turns to the brand for big red carpet appearances and now she's called on the man himself to design her wedding dress.

Talking to E! Garavani confirmed that he 'did the dress' for the actresses upcoming nuptials to Adam Shulman. 'She's a very good friend of mine...She's like my daughter. She's sensational. She's fantastic.' The news comes just days after Hathaway attended the 2012 New York City Ballet Gala hosted by him wearing fall 2012 Valentino couture.

Sarah Jessica Parker has been a friend of Valentino Garavani for a long time so it was no surprise when she turned up on the red carpet for the 2012 New York City Ballet Gala hosted by the designer.

For the occassion the actress wore a Fall 2012 Valentino couture gown under a cape. While I know I've already criticised Karolina Kurkova's Valentino cape look, for some reason this actually works. Admittedly the look isn't for everyone but SJP is one woman that can pull it off.

Olivia Palermo flew from the Burberry show straight to New York this week to attend the 2012 Brazil Foundation Gala party help at the American Museum of National History and as always, she nailed it.

Beauty wise, the reality star went for the centre parting tied back look that she's been sporting a lot recently and opted for a beautiful floral embroidered sheer bell sleeved dress from the Spring 2012 Valentino collection.

Capes shouldn't be seen on the red carpet except for on André Leon Talley (just ask Venus Williams) and sadly, that's exactly what Karolina Kurkova wore to attend the 2012 New York City Ballet Gala hosted by Valentino. The red dress from the fall 2012 Valentino couture collection looks beautiful and the colour definitely works for her skin tone. It's just that the cape that kills it.

Valentino Garavani Retrospective Set To Open At Somerset House

Last year Valentino Garavani launched an extremely successful 3D showcase of the Italian house's archive at the Museum of Modern Art in New York but now, the man himself is set t be the subject of his own special retrospective.

This morning Somerset House confirmed that they have been working with the designer on an exhibition dedicated to his work, particularly as a couturier. The retrospective will showcase 130 of his couture commissions for clients like Jackie Kennedy, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sophia Loren. 'Each of these designs have a beautiful story,' he said in a statement. 'The atelier crafted each so diligently by hand, taking hours to complete...the dresses have rarely been seen, so to be able to showcase these designs at Somerset House, where they can be seen in detail by the public is very unique.'

Alongside the dresses, the exhibition, titled Valentino: Master of Couture, will also include a selection of the designer's personal photographs along with a virtual catwalk and special installation.

The exhibition will take place from November 22 until March 3.

This week Jennifer Aniston jumped on the thigh high slit parade wearing this white Burberry gown to attend the AFI Lifetime Achievement ceremony honoring Shirley MacLaine. To finish off the look she accessorised with Tabitha Simmons' Flossie Ayers heels and Valentino's vava-voom flap bag.

The look works for Aniston. There's no denying that she has the body to carry it off but as always, the look is an obvious choice for her. Like Scarlett Johannson, I'm desperate to see her sport something interesting and different on the red carpet but considering that she hasn't steered away from dresses like this for years, sadly it's unlikely to happen.

New York City Ballet Celebrate Valentino Garavani

Despite retiring back in 2008, Valentino Garavani is keeping busy. This week New York City Ballet confirmed that its Fall 2012 Gala will feature a one-time-only celebration of the designer. As part of the festivities, a performance of George Balanchine's Rubies will take place on the night to tribute the designer's signature 'Valentino Red'.

The news isn't a surprise. Garavani has been a long-time supporter of the New York City Ballet and at present, is working away on creating the costumes for thee major productions by NYCB Ballet Master in Chief, Peter Martins.

When Jessica Stam unveiled her new dark hair recently I wasn't convinced and even at the Met Gala last week, the dark shade looked to severe on her but yesterday I was won over.

The colour looked a lot less stark as it had previously as the model stepped out to attend the American Ballet Theatre's 2012 Gala. The red Valentino gown and studded clutch teamed with the waves and statement earrings worked perfectly.

Shailene Woodley Covers ASOS Magazine

Like the majority of people I was severely traumatised after Shailene Woodley sported those five finger Vibram shoes with her Calvin Klein dress at the InStyle Golden Globes after party earlier on in the year. All is forgiven now as she appears back to her normal self with no Vibram's in sight in the latest issue of ASOS magazine.

In the issue, the 20 year-old sports the pyjama trend that I've been talking a lot about recently and also talks about the flack that she received for wearing that Valentino dress to the Oscars this year. 'A lot of people didn't like it. They were like, 'she's 20, she's covering herself up, why is she doing that?' But to me it felt classy and elegant and that's what I think of when I think of the Oscars,' she explained. 'It felt simple and elegant and it still represented who I am. Most of my clothes come through friends – this cardigan is two years old and these jeans are my friend's boyfriend's.'

Shailene Woodley had a lot of work to do to get back in my good books after wearing those Vibran five finger running shoes with her Calvin Klein gown to a Golden Globes after-party and unfortunately, this look didn't cut it. The actress chose this pre-fall Valentino dress, which isn't the most flattering shape on her, to attend the 23rd Annual Producers Guild Awards.
