Recently all of the international editions of Vogue agreed to dedicate their June issues to health and aside from Vogue Germany, the results have been really good. Now all of the issues are out, one of the most interesting things that instantly stands out is the choice of models. Rather than opting for the ultra thin girls that are dominating at the moment, Vogue Paris chose Gisele for the cover and big editorial, Vogue Spain shot Hilary Rhoda and Vogue China booked Doutzen Kroes. While the girls are far from being representative of the average woman, their bodies are undoubtedly healthy and a better option from the types of girls these magazines typically shoot. Ironically, Kroes' editorial was aptly named, 'A Big Splash' too.
The majority of the editorials showcase summer swimwear, which instantly makes you think. Was the choice of models simply the result of trying to showcase the pieces in the best light or should we see it as a step in the right direction as far as the representation of a healthier body image goes. Even if is a positive step, there will be many that will argue that the commitment to health in the June issue is a one-off, rather than reflecting what we can expect to see in future. Since the July issues haven't all dropped on newsstands, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Just as we reported, Olivia Palermo is set to air her own reality TV show after it was confirmed that 'The City' has been axed. Palermo took to Vogue Spain's January issue to confirm the news again and reveal that she'll use it to launch her own clothing line. She's still keeping quiet about the details but something tells me that her shoot for the magazine marks the start of a long promotional campaign for the new series so more information is bound to be released soon.
Miranda Kerr used her Vogue Spain cover story in September to announce that she was four months pregnant with her first child with new husband Orlando Bloom, and it looks she's not allowing her baby stop her from shooting another main fashion story.
Now six months into her pregnancy, recent rumours claim that the model will show off her bump in the next issue of Vogue Australia. Reports claim that the magazine has been calling in lingerie for the shoot, leading many to speculate that Kerr will be showing off maternity wear.
They only got married last month but Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr already have something else to celebrate. After her model friends and husband started speculation that the pair were expecting their first child, the model confirmed that she is four months pregnant in the September issue of Vogue Spain.
"Yes, I am pregnant. Four months along," she told the magazine. The recent confirmation was likely the result of her growing bump appearing becoming apparent."I remember on one occasion in the early days [of my pregnancy] when it was still too soon to say anything, and I had a dreadful time at one job," referring to morning sickness.
