Whitney Port Is Asking Her Fans To Pay For Her S/S13 Show

Despite her role on 'Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model', it wouldn't be too harsh to say that Whitney Port's career hasn't ever shone quite as brightly as it did during her time on 'The City'. While she continues to design for her brand, Whitney Eve, it hasn't been doing too well and now she's asking her fans to pay for her New York show.

In the short video appeal the fund raising campaign is framed as an innovative way to allow her fans to be part of the creation of her show when in actual fact, it seems like nothing more than a way of finding money to fund the show. 'Oftentimes, I have fans asking me how they can break into the fashion business or how they can learn more about runway show production,' she said in a statement. 'I think this campaign is a great way to provide my fans a behind-the-scenes experience on how a large show is designed.' Depending on how much you donate you can get everything from a shout out on Facebook to being able to sit front row at the show.

Not matter how much she tries to spin this, it all feels a bit disingenuous to me. What do you think?

Whitney Port Is The Latest Judge On Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model

Since 'The City' was dropped from MTV, we haven't seen much of Whitney Port on the small screen but that's all about to change. This week Port confirmed that she will join Elle Macpherson and Julien Macdonald on the judging panel of Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model.

"I'm thrilled about this new opportunity in my career and I am honored to have been asked to work alongside industry icons who I truly respect and admire," she wrote on her blog on Monday. But she isn't the only American joining the panel this year as Tyson Beckford has also been brought on board as the two replace Grace Woodward and Charley Speed who were on the panel last year.

Whitney Port Will Show Her Line Next Month At New York Fashion Week

Going from a successful reality star into a bona fide designer is hard transition for anyone and it's a challenge that Whitney Port has willingly embraced over the last few years. Despite showing her line, Whitney Eve, at New York Fashion Week in a group with several other designers back in 2009, the platforms she used to present her line were a lot more modest after the show was cancelled.

But fans of the line should not despair because Port has confirmed that she will return to the New York Fashion Week schedule next month and will show her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection at the Lincoln Centre with the help of Kelly Cutrone and People's Revolution. “My collection has grown so much over the past few years, and the next step for me as a designer was to put on my own runway show,” Port explained in a release. “I am so excited to show on schedule as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, and can’t wait to show my new Fall collection on the runway.”

Olivia Palermo Is Set To Follow In Whitney Port's Footsteps

Just as we reported, Olivia Palermo is set to air her own reality TV show after it was confirmed that 'The City' has been axed. Palermo took to Vogue Spain's January issue to confirm the news again and reveal that she'll use it to launch her own clothing line. She's still keeping quiet about the details but something tells me that her shoot for the magazine marks the start of a long promotional campaign for the new series so more information is bound to be released soon.

We've been suffering from withdrawl symptoms since 'Kell on Earth' ended, and with Whitney Port announcing that 'The City' has been cancelled, we were all concerned where we'd get our weekly dosage of Kelly Cutrone TV time. But we come bearing good news. Cutrone has just signed as a correspondent for Dr Phil's chat show.

Both of them took to their Twitter accounts to confirm the news yesterday: "@peoplesrev News flash! I've been signed to @drphil as Correspondent!! CBS daytime is loving the black - shout out to @drphil MORE TO COME," Cutrone said. Like Fashionista, we've never been huge fans of the chat show but are sold now. The People's Revolution boss will get her own chat show in 4...3...2...
