After a grueling month of shows, there's always something good about the Victoria's Secret show that traditionally follows shortly after Paris ends. The faces are different, the clothes (or lack thereof) are fun, the models smile and the shows always come with killer performances.
Joining the list of musicians who have taken to the runway for the event in the past like Katy Perry, Akon and the Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West and Maroon 5 are this year's big performers. Just because they know we love a just-given-birth-but-now-looking-amazing moment, the brand has bagged Miranda Kerr to return and hit the runway in $2.5 million "Treasure Fantasy Bra", this season's focal piece.
Make sure to tune in and watch the show on November 19.
Elle magazine threw a luncheon with Fergie on Friday to celebrate the Black Eyed Peas singer's new scent, Outspoken - and coincidentally, her May cover. Ms. Fergalicious got partially outspoken at the end, when she explained her views on digital retouching in magazines.
"I expect it because it's part of the norm now," Fergie said, as reported by WWD. "Sometimes I feel that they over-retouch things, and it makes people look funny." She wouldn't give examples, which is too bad for all of the gossips at heart.
In fact, continued the Ferg, she likes a bit of Photoshopping now and then. "Of course, if there's a big roll of flab coming out somewhere that doesn’t look flattering, sure, I’d love that to be lessened, but I don’t like to look like a cartoon character, either," she said. "I think everything in moderation."
Grammy fashion, overall, was just as skintight and shiny as usual for 2010 - with the exception of Lady Gaga-inspired futurism and a few classic evening looks, a la Taylor Swift and Nicole Kidman. The evening saw Fergie hit the red carpet in electric-blue Pucci, Keri Hilson sport a fishtail-style Dolce & Gabbana gown, and Jennifer Hudson wear Victoria Beckham, to name a few.
Who wins your award for best-dressed of the night?
Oh, Heidi Klum, you are full of surprises. Just five weeks after giving birth to your fourth child, there you are walking the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show - in a decked-out dress rather than lingerie alone, granted, but come on. With even Jay-Z at the show's taping Thursday night, there was pressure. Said the Klum: "When you have a baby, you can't really know if in five weeks' time you're like everyone else over here."
By over here, the VS Angel and 'Project Runway' host meant the pack of other winged top models, including show opener Alessandra Ambrosio, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Chanel Iman, Liu Wen, Anja Rubik and more. The sci-fi influence at this year's show was clear, with neon and intergalactic armour taking the spotlight.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by the Black Eyed Peas, and Fergie herself strode across the stage in a revealing corset. Also at the event? Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Michelle Trachtenberg and Keri Hilson: enough to prove to anyone that this year's fashion show was a serious spectacle.
Are you ready to pick up your new Cheryl Cole CD? Prepare yourselves. The 'Girls Aloud' star is gaining speed on her solo career and has just recorded her album in LA with producers like the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am. So where's the style interest? Esteemed fashion photographer Nick Knight has shot her album cover.
The shoot was pretty hush-hush several weeks ago, and it seems that Knight skipped his traditional high-fashion images (you've likely seen them on magazines and on his website, ShowStudio) and focused on Cole's face. Rumour was, photography team Mert and Marcus had been pegged for the job before scheduling conflicts forced the change.
"Although Cheryl is photographed all the time by the paparazzi, she is not in front of the camera in the way professional models are – she is less used to the process," Knight told Grazia. "Cheryl was great to work with, though. She is incredibly beautiful – it is just a different kind of shoot with an experienced model."
Now when you go in for a manicure, you can ask for the Tim Burton! Fergie performed with the Black Eyed Peas on Friday's 'Today' show on the US network NBC, and her fake striped nails were nothing short of shocking. Did she pull it off?
