Jason Wu was always destined to venture into bridal wear so it was not a surprise when he announced the move this week. Wu has signed on to work with Net-A-Porter for a year to create five bridal looks that will become available in January.
But the move is only a one off, according to his spokesperson, as the designer does not intend to go and create a full blown bridal wear collection. So if you want a wedding dress designed by Wu, make sure to get your hands on one of the five come January.
With bags and fragrance sales so low, designers are relying on their bridal ranges to bring in some financial stability during the current economic crisis, but even this industry has been affected.
Bridal wear giant Vera Wang has slashed prices for her beautiful gowns by 40 to 50% to the shock of retailers. This comes after we reported last week that the designer's Lavender Label has been dropped from several retailers, with orders reduced dramatically this season.
