Fashion leaders came together for a cause this week, as Sarah Brown joined forces with Donna Karan and Arianna Huffington this week to host the first-ever Women: Inspiration and Enterprise Symposium in New York. The goal of the event? To celebrate female leadership in business, all while raising funds for the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood.

A global patron for the alliance, Brown brought together a group of innovators ranging from Ashley Judd to Tavi to inspire other women from across the country. The event culminated in a rooftop fashion show featuring one-off gowns from women designers, including Vivienne Westwood, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa, and L'Wren Scott. Next step? Auctioning the pieces online for the White Ribbon Alliance.

To top it all off, Estelle made a guest appearance to sing a few hits, which left the model representing Chloe dancing her heart out. A bit of inspiration, some solid fashion and a chance to let loose - not a bad combination for an autumn night in the city.

New York Fashion Week prepares to deal with scheduling changes [WWD]

Last night, Bernard Chandran hosted his official London Fashion Week after-party. Instead of hosting the usual after show event in a club, the designer opted for an intimate meal in London's premier Malaysian restaurant, Awana.

"I really wanted to do something different and special," he said. "Rather than have a big party at a club I wanted to invite all of my friends and allow them to eat what I eat."

Guests, including Mr Hudson, Lady Gaga, Beverley Knight and Jimmy Choo, were served dishes such as chicken and beef satay and a variety of other traditional Malaysian specialities, all served by Awana's head chefs, Mark Read and Lee Chin Soon.

Chandran's collection received stellar reviews this season and continues to be a show not to miss, particularly by international press and buyers who continue to turn to the designer for creativity and innovation. His talents have earned him a following of celebrities ranging from Lada Gaga and Little Boots to Estelle and Rihanna.
