Sophie Theallet and Alabama Chanin
Sophie Theallet started her week off right: Last night, she took home a $200,000 prize for top honours at the Sixth-Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. The Brooklyn-based womenswear designer addressed the crowd at New York's Skyline Studios by saying, "I'm French, so I'm going to try to do my best...Thank you for making my American dreams come true."
Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz and Nicole Kidman gave out the awards, which saw runners-up Monique Pean, a philanthropic jewellery designer, and menswear designer Patrik Ervell take $50,000 apiece. Facing a crowd including Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg and Karen Elson, Pean vowed, "I won't disappoint you."
Wintour said at the event that she had met with the French minister of culture to discuss starting a similar fund in France, and the UK and Italy already have their own schemes. The editor reported that China, Russia, Brazil and India aren't far behind, but admitted still that "New York is the place to come for young designers to show what they're capable of."

Los Angeles' Museum of Contemporary Arts drew quite the A-list crowd to its 30th anniversary gala this Saturday. Among the guests? Ciara, Chloe Sevigny, Rachel Zoe and John Legend. We give Jeremy Scott the most-daring-outfit award, but our favourite of the evening? Zoe Saldana's tulle-infused romance. And with a Lady Gaga performance, everyone, as usual, was in for a treat.

Camilla Alves looks pretty ready to have her second child with Matthew McConaughey. Despite that fact, she showed up in a night-out-ready draped black dress and black stilettos to the Prada book launch.
How's her style?

Last night, MTV held the 2009 European Music Awards in Berlin, with everyone from Beyonce and Leona Lewis to Shakira and Katy Perry performing.

Betsey Johnson
Lady Gaga expectedly took a lion's share of the attention at Monday's ACE Awards, what with her Victorian-style lace face cover and boudoir hotpants, but it was Betsey Johnson who was flashing her rear by the end of the night. (Apparently, in partnership with the shoe e-tailer Zappos.)
Also at the event, Erin Wasson gave us an Angelina Jolie-effect BBD (big black dress), Marc Jacobs struck a pose with Lorenzo Martone, and Agyness Deyn showed us that false lash after false lash on the bottom lid might just be the next trend.

Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen were just two of the 31 new members inducted into the CFDA this week, with a reception led by the group's president, Diane Von Furstenberg, at New York's Four Seasons. Current members Alexander Wang, Vera Wang and more came out for the gathering, and Tory Burch looked especially cute with her daughter as a date. Congrats to all - we're getting excited for February's fashion weeks already.

It was party time for the likes of Carine Roitfeld, Sidney Toledane and Virginie Ledoyen as John Galliano arrived fashionably late to his timepiece launch party, welcomed by a warm reception of cheers and applause. Galliano revealed that the collection - launched at his Paris flagship store - had been inspired by old pocket watches that he had collected from around the world, whilst joking that he is 'always on time, like the Queen of England'.
