I've never been the biggest Claire Danes fan. As a woman's woman, the idea of supporting someone that feels no qualms about having an affair with a married man with a pregnant wife doesn't sit well with me. I hold a grunge, I know, but feminism aside, her latest cover is a good one.
The actress was the woman of choice for Flare magazine's November issue and rather than going for the cliché nude pregnancy shot, the magazine went for a tight beauty shot instead it works. This is one of my favourite covers of her to date and the issue is only one of a string of great covers from the Canadian title. Brooklyn Decker nailed it in Peter Pilotto for June and Lindsey Wixson shone on their all-important September cover.
The September issue covers are coming in thick and fast and the latest cover comes for Canadian fashion magazine, Flare, who have enlisted Lindsey Wixson for the issue.
While the covers that we've already seen have been pretty good, the majority have felt more summery than being the first issue for the fall season. Flare, on the other hand, have got it spot on with the gold Prabal Gurung dress that appears on the cover styled by Elizabeth Cabral. Credits in the accompanying editorial include Rodarte, Altuzarra and J. W. Anderson and one of those Prada suits that has been doing the rounds lately.
Aside from the strong styling, the cover is a big one because it also marks the forth September cover fronted by a model so far. Hopefully this is only the start of more things to come.
Brooklyn Decker has never been someone that I've particularly followed but that all changed recently, as there's no denying that she's pulled some strong looks out of the bag on the promotional tour for her latest film, 'Battlefield.' Her recent cover of Canadian magazine Flare magazine's June 2012 issue simply confirms her winning streak and sees her styled in a strong blue and white printed dress from Peter Pilotto's S/S12 collection.
The cover is strong for several reasons. Granted Decker looks incredible but more importantly it cements that British designers are really making waves internationally. Peter Pilotto is slowly being worn by more and more celebrities in Hollywood but to land a major cover, especially as a relatively young brand, is a definitely a big step in the right direction . Hopefully it doesn't end there.
If you're a fan of Lady Gaga's style, then you'll be pleased to know that the prospect of her launching her own clothing line is definitely on the horizons.
In the latest issue of Flare, the singer confirmed that the collection will come “at some point". She went on to explain that, "Right now, I’m more concerned with using my fame to promote young designers such as Gary Card, an artist who designed a piece I used on stage.” It looks like we're not the only people who think it will be succesful, as Gaga bodly said, “There hasn’t been a commercial artist lately that has embodied avant-garde and couture so insistently as myself.”
Our favourite supermodel Sasha P covers Canadian magazine, Flare. What do you think of the cover? People are already criticising its uncanny resemblance to the February issue of US Vogue with Renee on the front cover.
