Good News: Jenna Lyons Will Not Leave J. Crew Anytime Soon

With images of her former Park Slope townhouse in just about every major magazine and home interiors board on Pinterest and the news constantly full of reports of her alleged $1million salary, it's easy to lose sight of just how much Jenna Lyons has brought to the table at J. Crew. Last year the retailer began what is only the beginning of a series of expansion plans when it launched it's European e-commerce site and sales couldn't be better. The fact that a certain First Lady wears the brand - and without a discount - certainly helps. In addition to their great women's wear offerings, the retailer has an extremely successful menswear section, along with kids and bridal wear. Not bad for what was once a catalogue only-company.

Despite being such a powerhouse, Lyons is completely unaware of her ever-growing status. 'I was in Westfield in London and a girl comes up to me and says: 'Are you Jenna Lyons?' My father is British, so I was thinking: are you a long-lost relative? Was I nice to you when we were kids; did I give you some of my Kipling cakes? And she just said she was a huge J Crew fan,' she told Sarah Harris in her profile in the Guardian. 'I was so taken aback.' And that status isn't going to slow down any time soon as Lyons has no intention of leaving J. Crew in the near future. 'I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity that I've been given,' she said. 'This company has changed my life in so many ways, and as long as Mickey wants me here, I will be. My God,' she added, 'he's seriously going to have to give me a cow bell and a green pasture one day, and yell: 'Go! Go girl! Go!' As Harris wrote, we're all grateful.

Betty Jackson Takes A Break From Fashion

Betty Jackson is a firm favourite on the London Fashion Week schedule after being involved in the event for the last 60 seasons but this season the 62 year-old designer is notably missing from the line-up.

This week she confirmed that she has decided to take a gap year from fashion but will definitely return. "We're not closing the company, and I'm definitely not retiring," she told the Guardian.

Kanye West's Collaboration With Louise Goldin Confirmed

Thus week we reported that Kanye West has brought Louise Goldin on board to help with his womenswear debut this September and on Friday Louise Wilson, course director of MA Fashion at CSM, confirmed the reports.

Talking to British Vogue she said:

"I have known Kanye for about two years," Wilson, the course director of the MA Fashion at CSM, told us. "He is very knowledgeable about fashion and interested - he is also interesting, he has an individual point of view. He has visited the college twice - most recently about employing interns to work on a variety of projects. He has supported the fashion school (with its fundraising regarding its move to Kings Cross) with a donation. I have not however been working closely with him on a collection but I certainly wish him well."

Quote Me: Inez Van Lamsweerde Isn't A Fan Of Retouching

I can't say that I like it when an image is retouched to death, or when the person doesn't look like themselves any more. When it comes to retouching wrinkles, we try to be as conservative as possible. But it is part of our culture now: we have all become avatars.

Quote Me: Trends Are Dead

There really aren't such things as "trends" anymore because designers know that people are oddly reluctant to spend their money nowadays on things that they'll only be able to wear for three months, what with the economy crashing and unemployment soaring. So really, this is an excellent time to be a customer. Not only are the sales better and bigger this year, but designers are chucking any old thing in the pot these days in an attempt to appeal to the few potential customers out there who might be persuaded to buy.

Quote Me: Carine's Rules for Staying Interesting

I am getting older, and I don't want to be ridiculous ... When you get older, you have to stay a bit rock'n'roll so that young people will still be interested in you. The way you move, the way you talk, maybe the way you have your hair in your face a little bit - this keeps you interesting.

Quote Me: Someone Has a Carine Crush

Listening to Carine Roitfeld talk is like having Chanel No 5 eau de parfum dripped, very slowly, into your ear. If it were possible to bottle that accent, it would surely be found to contain the very DNA of sexy-French-womanliness. Her thickly Gallic delivery is cartoonishly seductive, but the kittenishness is spiked by the low, Gauloise huskiness of her timbre. The combination is a heady cocktail of sharp and sweet, like the salted rim of a Margarita.

Quote Me: Timberlake vs Dior

And, lo, here we are, actually reading articles in fashion magazines about Justin Timberlake's skilful way with tailoring. One can almost hear the late Christian Dior gently weeping.
