She may have paved the way for naturally waif-like models in the '90s, but Kate Moss is under criticism after an interview in WWD revealed one of the supermodel's mottos to be "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". Eating disorder experts have expressed their disappointment at Moss using the slogan, which is also used on websites encouraging girls not to eat.
''Comments like this make it even more difficult for young people struggling with an eating disorder,'' said Mary George of the eating disorder charity Beat, who then went on to describe the comment as "very unfortunate". Storm, Moss' modelling agency, however, have expressed that the model's words were misinterpreted. ''This was part of a longer answer Kate gave during a wider-ranging interview, which has unfortunately been taken out of context and completely misrepresented,'' the agency explained in a statement. ''For the record, Kate does not support this as a lifestyle choice.''

We recently reported that Gemma Ward was back (in business), having been off the radar for a couple of years, during which time she sported a more relaxed and healthy, fuller figure, than before she took time off. The only catch is that they want a 'relaxed', real girl to star in the ad campaign, they want Ms Ward in her 'real girl' mode as opposed to model mode.

Ad campaigns, catwalk shows, magazine covers, even commercial newsstand value: The Daily Beast has assessed all the aspects of a model’s “visibility and success” to determine supermodel superiority and has ranked them as a top-10 list.
“We considered four tenets to illustrate a model’s visibility and success — multi-year contracts, advertising campaigns, runway appearances, and magazine covers. Those with retail licensing deals, including Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen, got credit for those estimated annual earnings, as well. Annual income from contracts, primarily negotiated by large cosmetic companies and Victoria’s Secret, were weighted 40 percent because they are the most difficult to get, bear the largest salaries, and indicate a very high level of success.”

To celebrate the development and strenghtened reputation of British Fashion over the past 25 years, and to recognise some of the leading industry figures that have shaped and help make it what it is today, The British Fashion Awards in collaboration with Swarovski will mark the end of the British Fashion Council's 25th anniversary celebrations. For the first time the public have been invited to vote for their 'Spirit of London' - the key individual whom they think embodies the spirit of the city and acts as London's ambassador on a global basis.
The winner will be announced on the 9th of December at the Royal Courts of Justice, where over 500 industry leaders, designers, retailers, celebrities, journalists and models will gather to celebrate the occasion. Visit here to vote for the likes of Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Kate Moss, Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Sir Philip Green and Twiggy to name a few.
