Harper's Bazaar US isn't the only one having a hard circulation year. WWD reports that Glamour is also suffering the same problem but it looks like they've cracked the problem. It's not the headlines that get people buying the magazine, it's all about the cover and reality stars seem to be the biggest magazine sellers.
According to reports, Lauren Conrad's 2010 cover was the magazine's biggest seller that year and Kim Kardashian's February cover this year is the best selling issue so far this year. The figures indicate just how much the business of magazines have changed. 15 years ago publications like Vogue US were beginning to introduce celebrity covers but were only allowing the A-list to appear and fast forward to 2011, every reality star worth their 30 minute TV slot is bagging a cover. “If you look at what works for us, it’s not the same stuff that used to work for us,” Glamour US editor Cindi Lieve points out.
Tonight Glamour hosted their annual Women of The Year awards ceremony in London's Berkeley Square. Guests include Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing Stella McCartney, Daisy Lowe and Jessie J. Kim Kardashian also attended wearing a black strapless fitted gown and Lorraine Schwarz jewels as she is currently in London promoting her latest fragrance. Fresh from the MTV Movie Awards on Monday, Kristen Stewart made an appearance what is quickly becoming her signature - a strapless mini dress.
Kim Kardashian stepped out on this white halter neck dress that came softly belted at the waist at the Amber Lounge party this weekend in Monaco. The reality star teamed the look with simple stud earrings and waved hair,
Last night Victoria's Secret held a party to celebrate their SWIM 2011 catalogue at Club L in LA. Angels Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima all attended the event showing off their svelte post-baby physiques.
This was Kerr's second big appearance since giving birth to baby Flynn three months ago - she walked in the Balenciaga show last month - and comes a week after fellow Angel, Doutzen Kroes, showed off her back-to-normal body on the beach in Miami eight weeks after giving birth to son Phyllon
Solange Knowles, Kim Kardashian and Robin Antin were all in attendance.
In last week's episode of 'Kourtney and Kim Take New York' we all found out about the drama that occured over Kim's nude editorial and cover for W. In the episode she explained that she felt misled by the publication who allegedly led her to believe that her private areas would be covered by art.
"Oh my God, I'm more naked that I was in Playboy. I'm so mad right now. [The magazine] promised I would be covered with artwork — you can see the nipples!" she told her sisters on the show. "The whole concept was sold to me that nothing would be seen," she continued. "I feel so taken advantage of ... I've definitely learned my lesson. I'm never taking my clothes off again, even if it's for Vogue."
After a promising start to the awards season with the Golden Globes, the SAG awards were disappointing in the wardrobe department. The majority of the looks failed to excite at all and January Jones, Lea Michele, Tina Fey and Winona Ryder were the best of a bad bunch.
When I heard that Rafael Nadal had signed a deal with Armani Jeans, I was surprised. He wasn't the first spokesperson that sprung to mind but having seen his first ad for the brand, I'm pleasantly suprised. The tennis player shows off his athletic physche in the campaign to good effect. Megan Fox's campaign for the underwear line is out too but it was disappointing and left us hoping for a change in the line-up. If they're looking for curves, why not Kim Kardashian?
The Kardashian empire continues to grow...and grow. It seems that the trio have really taken to designing after their stint collaborating with Bebe. Yesterday WWD revealed that the trio are expanding their fashion empire bu launching Kardashian Kollection. The brand will be made available at 400 Sears stores in August.
Kim Kardashian disccused the partnership with Sears explaining that the collaboration allows them to “cater to our fans and to make sure that everyone can have access to the Kardashian Kollection.” Khloe added that, “Not only do they have locations nationwide, but we recognize that Sears will allow us to reach multigenerations of fans and people who are interested in fabulous clothing at affordable prices.”
The collection is a lot bigger than their line for Bebe, featuring 40 pieces of apparal, 60 items of jewelery, 30 handbags and wallets, 25 hats and gloves, 20 pieces of lingerie and 12 styles of shoes. They're keeping silent about the details but prices are expected to stick with Sears' price points and the style will lean towards glam-rock and boho themes.
