Led by British photographer Nick Knight, fashion broadcasting site SHOWstudio is known for its use of experimental interactive projects, films and live performances. And yet again, it fails to disappoint. After broadcasting a Nick Knight fashion shoot live at Somerset House during London Fashion Week, the website has now honed in on Gareth Pugh - Britain’s latest addition to a long tradition of fashion-as-performance-art – and will air live footage of the man in action. Viewers will have a unique opportunity to see the designer at work as he creates an interpretation of one of his S/S 2010 pieces through a webcam that will film every measurement, cut and stitch.
This long-term collaborator to the site, who has received significant acclaim in contemporary fashion circles, yet has struggled to gain commercial value, will be selling his one-off piece in the SHOWstudio SHOP alongside many other designers who will follow suit in the future. So, if like us you love this eccentric designer, we urge you all to visit SHOWstudio.com on the 20th, 23rd and 24th of November; when Gareth Pugh will be in residence.
Louise Gray knows how to make us smile in general, but her new collection with The Smiley Company for Spring/Summer 2010 pleases our need for both cute clothes and giving back. The British designer showed a five-piece women's capsule collection at London Fashion Week - think a bustier, t-shirt, jacket, dress and skirt - mixing the traditional smiley face and Gray's offbeat style.
The Smiley Company, which focuses on engaging graphics and ethical production methods, has agreed to give 10 percent of proceeds to charities that will help third-world countries establish healthcare and school systems. So if you need to turn your frown upside down, and if you also appreciate good work with silk, hand beading, Swarovski crystals and maybe a tassel or two, has Louise Gray got a collection for you!
There is no doubt that since MAC burst onto the makeup scene back in 1984, they have made a dramatically credible impact on the fashion industry. Not only do they provide high quality makeup to the very best artists for shows and shoots, their professional advice can be accessed through their stand alone stores, along with their expert products. As if offering us the best cosmetics, industry secrets and the artists to teach us how to emulate the latest beauty trends is not enough, MAC produce striking limited edition collections - with collaborators ranging from Zandra Rhodes, to Hello Kitty, to Dame Edna Everage - and even feed further back into the industry with their proactive involvement in both London and New York Fashion Weeks, to name a few. Could we ask much more of a makeup brand? We think not, as we take a look back at their involvement in the Spring Summer 2010 collections...
D&G SS10 took us all the way back to the wild wild west, minus the barns and straw seen at Chanel. Denim ruled the runway in the form of shirts, playsuits, dresses and raras, all showing that mixing it up is never a bad thing. Fringing and ruffles also added to the theme with tan accessories finishing off the look. With denim making an appearance at Chloe and Marc by Marc Jacobs, it is safe to say the rage is not dying down, and how grateful we are.
Dolce and Gabbana told Vogue they took inspiration from ''young British women and their instinctive ability to mix and match denim, streetwear and formal wear with a typical blasé attitude.'' We found exactly that at London Fashion Week. This girl teamed a denim playsuit with black tights, taking the look through the winter weather. The patterned head scarf and gold tipped boots add the perfect quirky edge we just can't get enough of.
We've just heard that the comedian and smooth casanova that is David Walliams has got a new lady in his life. The actor, who has in the past been linked to some of the most beautiful actresses and models in the world, has found a new 'love', in the form of supermodel of the moment and current face of Jaeger, Lara Stone.
The unlikely couple made their first public appearance on the front row of the Twenty8Twelve at LFW last month and then Walliams attended the Jaeger show, the only show in which Stone walked during LFW . Since then things have clearly been heating up between the two, who have been rumoured to have gone on a string of romantic dates over the last couple of months- most recently dinner at Nobu a few nights ago. Although it's still early days, we certainly hope that this romance will go the distance not only because the pair make a ridiculously cool and good looking couple, but also because we always love a good old fashioned love story. Watch this space......
Chloe S/S10 brought us back to basics. Although, some die hard Chloe fans were left wanting more when only a few floaty numbers filed out at the end, after all this is what the brand is loved for. With the last collection oozing glamour and dripping with diamontes, this season was all about the cut and the signature Hannah MacGibbon masculine tailoring. Teaming oversized blazers with high-waisted pants, the show was easy chic at its best bringing an easy sensibility straight to your summer wardrobe.
Spotted at Fashion Week, this trend-setter showed everyone how to do the Chloe look perfectly, nipping the pants in at the waist with a super skinny belt and rolling the hems up for the ultimate Parisian vibe. For a fresh contrast against the slouchy tailoring, team with ultra flat gladiators this spring, we know your feet will thank you.
You've already met The Fash Pack's newest columnist, make up artist Kenneth Soh. The last time we checked in with him, he was ready to take over his first solo show at London Fashion Week, after training with the likes of Pat McGrath and Val Garland. Now, he's had time to catch his breath (and, er, suffer through an unexpected diet) and is back to fill you in on all his backstage details.
What kind of gossip can you expect? Kenneth will take you through his private show for Anna Wintour, a double dose of Chanel Iman and a panic session when he (yikes) shows up to a runway show an hour late.
With some fabulously and sometimes shockingly sexy campaigns and lingerie behind him, co-founder of Agent ProvocateurJoe Corre has parted ways with the company in order to work on other projects. As the son of designer Vivienne Westwood and former manager of the Sex Pistols, Malcolm MacLaren, Corre has the X-rated seductive spirit in his blood, and has caused a stir with campaigns including The Four Dreams of Miss X - starring our very own Kate Moss - and more recently the promotional video 'Love Me Tender... Or Else', starring newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whitely.
The label will be left in the capable hands of Corre's ex-wife and co-founder, Serena Rees and Creative Director Sarah Shotton, whilst Corre moves on to concentrate on his menswear business, Child of the Jago, and his long passion for music. Having received rave reviews after showing vintage Teddy boy suits, Victorian peacoats and fighter pilot jackets at last month's London Fashion Week, Child of the Jago - which is named after a Victorian novel - is set to do well.
Vivienne Westood has been one busy lady. Not content with taking over London Fashion Week, the anarchic designer has now turned her talents and attention to designing a wall paper range.
Teaming up with Cole and Sons, a heritage, old-school wall paper company, Westwood has designed a 12 piece collection featuring prints and weaves from her previous runway collections. Choose from the Squiggle print, Vivienne's lace, Trompe L'Oeil Drape, Dogtooth, Tartan and many more. The collection is available now on cole-and-sons.com and with so many variations, you will seriously be spoilt for choice.
