After scouting nine countries for nine men, the aptly titled '9 countries, 9 men' competition that Calvin Klein have been running since last year is hottening up: The finalists are in, with the winner to be announced in April. Thousands of wannabe models attended the in-store castings and sent their photos in to the website, and of the many who applied, a prestigious judging panel (including current Klein beau Jamie Dornan and Devon Parsons from Select Model Management) have narrowed the competition down to one finalist per country.
The European search celebrates the launch of Calvin Klein Underwear's new steel range, featuring nine new colour ways representing the flag of each participating country - England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Spain and Sweden. We'll be backing toned Laurence Cope, who at only 19 years old is doing a very good job of representing England. Visit the website now to vote for your pick. Backing your country has never been so attractive, literally.

As a refresher, Calvin Klein is looking for its next great male underwear model. The company's current leading man, Jamie Dornan, who co-stars in the fall underwear and jeans ads with Eva Mendes, is helping judges around the world choose the next bod of greatness. The UK's first round of walk-in castings took place Saturday at London's House of Fraser, where Devon Parsons, head of the men's division at Select Model Management, helped judge the waiting hopefuls.
Photographs from the castings both in London and the other countries up for the title can be viewed on 9countries9men.com. As part of the selection process, all photo submissions will be judged by a panel including Dornan, Parsons and key members of the media and Calvin Klein staff. Judges will select one finalist from each participating country, with the finalists being announced in February 2010. From those finalists, one winner will be selected in April 2010. The winner will earn a one-year modelling contract with Select and a luxury trip for two to South Africa.
