You're probably getting tired of hearing me say this but Carine Roitfeld is truly on a roll and I say it for good reason. Next month will see her launch the debut issue of her highly anticipated new magazine, CR Fashion Book, along with the magazine's website and a whole host of other exciting projects. While we still have a way to go to get our hands on the issue, one thing we don't have to wait for is to see the fruits of her work with MAC.
Yesterday the beauty giant released this fun behind-the-scenes video from her campaign shoot, where Roitfeld talks about everything from wanting to emphasis her eyes to the fact that she sees her star stencils on her face as 'good luck' beauty marks. Aside from that, everything else is what we expected. The collection is all about the brows and recreating her signature smokey eyes look, with some foundations and nude lip colours thrown in too.
The collection is set to hit stores on Fashion Night Out on September 6, which has me thinking. Since Azealia Banks' collection for MAC is being released on the same day and sees her performing at their Soho store, surely that means Roitfeld will be on hand too. How good would a duet be? I mean, it's not like she's afraid of singing in public after that karaoke party she hosted last September. Can someone please make this happen?
Madwell deserve a big pat on the back for this one. Today the retailer revealed that they've tapped Solange Knowles to star in their new capaign and everything about it works. Madewell have always been known as J. Crew's quirkier sister so is definitely in line with Solange's style, resulting in one of the most exciting partnerships I've heard about in a while.
As exciting as it is, I can't say I'm surprised. Solange has always had a great relationship with J. Crew's Jenna Lyons and I mean, it makes perfect sense. 'I of course love what she does at J.Crew,' Knowles told Fashionista recently about Lyons. 'I just think it embodies my style in that it has so much color and texture and character but it’s classic with great tailoring and I think if you have one you have to have the other. And she’s just so freakin’ cool. What else can I say?'
As we reported, the singer has been in London over the past few weeks shooting a ten-part series with Sky Living HD called Styled to Rock. The show, which is set to premiere next month, sees contestants compete to be in the running to design the outfit that the 24 year-old will wear at the Wireless Festival.
Aside from Rihanna's own stylist, the judging panel, which also includes Nicola Roberts and Henry Holland, failed to excite me. That said, I've been told by good authority that the show should be pretty good and based on the trailer, it's not looking too bad.
Chanel is really spoiling us. Last week they released a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot of their upcoming book, 'The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited' and now this video has dropped.
Anyone on Twitter will know that the House travelled to Tokyo last week on a special trip and if you were not amongst the luck few to be invited, the short video allows you to see what happened over the three day trip. The first section sees everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker to Carine Roitfeld attend the exhibition for the upcoming book followed by the brand restaging their recent couture show with that spectacular aeroplane set. But that's not all. The final sequence sees them host a big party at their pop-up shop and if you pay attention you'll see Lindsey Wixson breaking into her best dance moves and Cara Delevigne rapping every word to Azealia Banks' songs as she performed at the event.
This week has been full of videos. Lanvin and Prada released their campaign videos this week and of course, Vogue Paris unveiled their new website with a video of Emmanuelle Alt performing to Wham's 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go'. Yesterday was Yves Saint Laurent's turn as the brand released a short clip to promote their new cruise collection.
The video, directed by Maciek Kobielski, is set an unknown but luxurious location which served as the perfect backdrop to the put the clothes in context. The fact that the collection is worn by the painstakingly beautiful Eniko Mihalik doesn't hurt either.
Last month we were all left wondering what French Vogue would do after they announced that they are relaunching their website. Their website has arguably not been as strong as their international counterparts but that's all a thing of the past as Emmanuelle Alt proved that they are force to be reckoned with as she unveiled the new design today.
To celebrate the relaunch Anja Rubik, Karmen Pedaru, Kendra Spears, Jasmine Tookes and French TV personality Mademoiselle Agnès, joined Alt to perform Wham's 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go'. All the models serve as back up singers for Alt, with Agnes playing the guitarist.
Since taking the role as editor last many have criticised Alt as coming across as unapproachable and frosty so this video will undoubtedly serve to dispel such allegations and besides, can you honestly imagine any other editor (besides Anna Dello Russo, of course) letting go and releasing something like this?
With the weather outside looking so dreary it's easy to forget that a thing called summer actually exists but MiH Jeans have given us faith with this behind-the-scenes video from their S/S12 look book shoot that they shot last summer. The short video shows model Ruby Aldridge running around in the countryside and basically doing everything we wish we could right now. So if there's anything that's getting us excited about summer right now, it's this.
Chloë Moretz has been everywhere this year. Aside from continuing to impress the acting world with her on screen abilities, the 14 year-old has charmed the fashion industry and has been supported by designers and editors alike as well as appearing on the red carpet of every fashion event that matters.
Although we loved her covers for Wonderland, Interview and LOVE, we've all been waiting for her debut cover for Teen Vogue. Moretz epitomising the Teen Vogue girl and if there's any magazine that balances fashion and age appropriateness, it's them so luckily for us, that day has finally come. Moretz appears in on their December/January cover and in an accompanying spread that is definitely one of my favourites from the magazine this year.
Yesterday saw Christian Louboutin's 20th anniversary book, Christian Louboutin, finally arrive in stores and to celebrate, the brand revealed the first in a series of behind-the-scenes videos talking to the various contributors to the book.
The first installment focuses on Dita Von Teese. Since the pair decided to collaborate on her shows back in 2003, you'll be hard pressed to find an instance where the burlesque performer is not boosting Loboutin's red soles. "I think it's a really sexy thing when performing a strip tease to have that sexy flash of a red sole, which always matches my lips and my nails," she says in the short clip. "It's funny that in burlesque amongst other burlesque performers [wearing Louboutin] has become the standard."
Anyone who knows Paz de la Huerta understands why her collaboration with Agent Provocteur on their latest campaign works so brilliantly. The actress quite a sexy lady and has gained quite the reputation for not leaving much to the imagination to the delight of the paparazzi.
For their Fall 2011 campaign the brand cleverly plays on the old tendency in Hollywood to go out without underwear and flash - cast your mind back to memories of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears circa 2008 - and instead shows the actress showing off her AP underwear with the slogan, 'Always Remember Your Agent Provocateurs'.
For the third season in a row, the lingerie brand has collaborated with Johan Renck and RSA films to launch a series of short films and videos to support the campaign. 'Aside from being a stunning and brilliant actress, Paz de la Huerta has not risen to the status of it-girl by chance; she has perfected the art of revealing her assets in a cheeky way at the opportune moment," Johan Renck said. 'This film is a guide to flashing your goods at the perfect moment and if this guide is followed...you too can be thrust into the world of it-girl.'
