Earlier this month Carine Roitfeld confirmed that her new magazine will launch in September and will released twice a year. In an interview with Metro magazine she said that thing's will de difficult now compared to her time at Vogue where she had the financial backing of Conde Nast.
According to reports, though, things won't be too bad as Roitfeld is said to be in talks with the media group that own V magazine, VMan and Visionaire about publishing the publication. While the editor has not confirmed the reports, their pairing would make sense considering that she has contributed to V's big September issue and served as guest editor of VMan's Spring issue.
Last month we confirmed that Carine Roitfeld was brought on board to serve as guest editor of VMan's spring issue and as we reported, Roitfeld decided to change things up by swapping male models for real people in an editorial for the issue. Last week, images from the full shoot hit the net, ahead of the issue's release on February 14.
Unfortunately the images aren't surprising. While the men aren't models, they might as well have been as none of them look out out of place in the glossy title, which is disappointing as we were expecting Roitfeld to really push the boat with the story.
Life post-Vogue has been good for Carine Roitfeld - and good for us. Her attempt at diplomacy in interviews during her time at the French title has given way to refreshing frank anecdotes that would give Kaiser Karl a runner for his money and that's not an easy feat. Her recent comments in Eric Wilson's profile on her for The New York Times is a case in point. “If I look at the balance, maybe I lost some people I thought were my friends, but I made so many new friends," she explained when asked about the end of her friendship with Emmanuelle Alt. "I am very happy, in the end, because I am the winner.”
And it's true - Roitfeld has certainly come out on top since leaving the magazine. As well as her gig at Barneys and styling work for Chanel's campaigns, WWD confirm that she has guest edited VMan's spring issue, which is set to released on February 14.
Plus-size model Crystal Renn starred in V magazine's January issue, the publication's first-ever "Size Issue." The Cut reports that Renn features again in the next issue, so it seems that size diversity - at least partially and temporarily - is in. Here, Renn lounges in an Agent Provocateur bra with Dolce & Gabbana briefs at Tribeca's Smyth Hotel. But (gasp!) she actually has clothes on in another shoot for the mag.
